My love language is physical touch and i would literally never let Shadowheart leave my arms, I just want to kiss, hug and hold her 24/7.

She's tough and strong and pretty much the only character who can survive most of the game without the player unlike the others but she's also just my little princess.

I just wanna spoil her in and out of the bedroom so bad.

I am once again lamenting how neglected resist!Durge has been for months. The final climactic scene to their arc is met with some of the most milquetoast companion reactions I've ever seen.

We literally die.

Like Durge just stops being alive. Where's the angst? The emotion? None of this half-assing shit, give us the shock and denial. Hell, give us weeping! Make it unflattering, because loss can be ugly.

I wouldn't even be opposed to Withers not showing up immediately? Maybe they have to physically drag Durge's dead body back to camp. Show us Gale using the only revival scroll he has and his face falling when it doesn't work. Shadowheart being the healer, desperately expending all her energy to bring you back to life as a last hail mary. Minthara not caring that Bhaal is a god, vowing to make him pay. Lae'zel threatening you to wake up, and the devastation that follows when she realizes you won't. Wyll thinking of bargaining his very soul to Mizora just for the chance she could bring Durge back. Astarion and Karlach praying to whatever gods they can think of even though they don't believe in them anymore.

Show the grief, the exhaustion. Then Withers appears.

As it stands, the emotional weight of what happens to Durge gets resolved so quickly, there's never a moment for any of us to really react to it.

It's an issue all across the game tbh. Why do the companions have no reaction to Kressa's reveal that she tortured Durge? Why are there no consequences to your relationships when they find out you were behind the Absolute plan? Outside of Astarion, the other romanceable companions have very little unique interactions with Durge, which is a shame because there are plenty of them who share many parallels to Durge's experience of being used by a god/higher-power.

I feel like I'm playing the world's smallest violin when I complain about the lack of resist!Durge content because good god, Wyll and Minthara are fighting for their lives over here. But man, it really sucks knowing that patch 7 is allegedly Larian's last big content patch. Like if there was ever going to be an update where this sort of thing was added, it had to be this one. But it doesn't seem like Larian has any intention of closing the content disparity gap.

I really don't hear enough people talk about the fact that Shadowheart was not only brainwashed as a child, but had her memories repeatedly wiped. This isn't just your run of the mill reeducation. Like we're talking about having your brain literally tampered with by magic on a metaphysical level which is so incredibly violating and just on a completely different level than the typical indoctrination you see an average cultist goes through.

Your memories and lived experience is fundamentally responsible for shaping the kind of person you are. We see how important memories are with Durge because once they lost their memories, they were no longer the same person and became someone entirely new. Shadowheart was frequently subjected to memory wipes since she was kidnapped as a child, forced to adopt Sharran dogma, and every time she started remembering things about her past or strayed from their teachings, they'd take her memories away again. Imagine the only memories you're allowed to keep are the ones your abusers let you, as they continue to alter your perception of reality in order for you to stay obedient to their control. This is gaslighting on a level we have literally never seen before irl.

It's no wonder Shadowheart says the things she says, and yet, somehow, against the strict doctrines and manipulation that's been hammered into her for decades, she always ends up reverting back to her true self. From Viconia's journal:

my favourite part of shadowheart's personality is that she's supposed to be all mysterious and secretive but she's also just a massive fucking gossip. one of the first conversations u have with her she starts with "i couldn't help but overhear - ok, i could help, but..."

Reasons I love Shadowheart in no particular order:

Changing her hair bc she's confused and stressed and doesn't know how to separate herself from Shar other than turning her hair fucking WHITE (which is really funny if your Tav is a Selûnite with white hair cuz you just know she wants to be like you)

honestly Shadowheart is just so funny because there are so many just ridiculous details about her character. she's worships an EVIL goddess. she has a cool goth drow mother figure who's also evil. she's goth and wears evil armor for her evil goddess only. she has stigmata. she was kidnapped into an evil cult. she has amnesia. she tortures her parents for her evil cult. she is half werewolf. she's the evil chosen one. her name is fucking SHADOWHEART.

like individually those are all just like insane edgelord character creation choices that would earn most people side eye at least if they tried to put more than one of these in their character. But Shadowheart has so many of them that its just like "yes yes, of course she does this is so her, what other ridiculous nonsense is there?"

the reason why Isobel didn’t go to Moonrise with the Harper’s isn’t because of some thing stupid like having to stay to protect the civilians at the inn or not wanting to show herself to Ketheric but was because she saw the silver light streaming through the sky and was like “*deep breath* it’s probably not her because she’s dead so don’t get your hopes up” while she spent 12 hours doing her hair and cleaning up and making sure her spear was polished and trimming her fingernails and smudging her eye makeup just right

When Anaya spoke, her voice was strained. “Goddess of beauty and desire, allow your most devoted servant to worship at your altar.” 

Shadowheart lifted her chin imperiously, as if looking down on Anaya. This was such a new addition to their dynamic; they'd fucked before, but Anaya had been the one in control. She had done what she pleased with Shadowheart, not allowing or asking for any reciprocation. When Shadowheart tried to touch, she was met with punishing stares and harsh words. Anaya's body was not hers, not in the way Shadowheart was Anaya's. She had relished that at the time, only feeling it was unfair afterwards, but Anaya had assured her there would be ample opportunity to make it up to her. 

She intended to tonight. A perfect idea had already begun worming its way into her brain. 

“I see no devotion,” Shadowheart said, voice thick and low. Anaya's eyes roamed her chest greedily before she spoke, but redirected to her face at the sound of her voice. “Only lust.” 

It was a dark look. One that said if Shadowheart let her, she would consume her all night. 

“Allow me to prove my devotion, great goddess."
