OUHGHGG okay soo I think they like to hang out at either the arcade or the comic book store , the latter specifically after lloyd got them hooked on starfarer . i think they like to hang out like sitting down in the back between shelves reading new issues that they don’t want to pay for (ive said this before as a general ninja hc, but i think it’s important to them as a duo as well)

before the comic book store i think they visited the arcade as frequently as possible, ran themselves dry financially trying to win each other the most plushies from a claw machine and racking up tokens to buy the good prizes from the ticket counter : ) also they 100% hogged the street fighter cabinet . shoulder to shoulder , hands occasionally brushing , not letting anyone else play bc that’s THEIR console . yeah they were jerks (affectionate)

been thinking about kai and jay in hunted because i’m rewatching (user plasmara thinking about plasma like who’s surprised) and just realised that kai didn’t even flinch when jay called him “baby”?? not a single reaction??? which leads me to believe that this is not a one-time occurrence. no. this has happened many times before.

ergo: kai is simply used to it by now. and now i’m fully convinced they exclusively refer to each other with pet names. not even necessarily in a romantic way. they’re just Like That.

and everyone on the team is used to it by now too. no one blinks when jay’s like “you good, sweetheart?” after a fight or when kai goes “relax, babe, i’ve got this” before doing something deeply unwise. it’s just background noise now.

and U KNOW WHAT. not that anyone asked for it but fuck it yes okay breakdown of pet name usage, because i have thought about it Extensively now:

jay:

- sweetheart but this is actually used Genuinely

- baby (duh)

- cupcake — only when he’s mad. always said with a fuck-ton of attitude

It was all Jay's fault, really. Kai refused to think about his own part in this whole mess, because it was so much easier to pin it all on Jay. - News reporters catch sight of Kai and Jay trying wedding cakes, and get the idea they're engaged, which is funny, hilarious even, except... they're not even dating?

starting off strong with the fanfic that probably literally changed my brain chemistry at age 14 and is the reason I got so attached to plasma. I read this probably a billion times and I am almost certain my writing style came from or started from this fic.

I LOVE fake engagement/dating aus and this fic is literally the reason I have like 5 in my wips for other fandoms. it's so good and it had me hooked every single time I reread it. I believe I owe it a reread soon.
