A crossover between Steven Universe and Super Giant Robot Brothers would be so funny because it just fits. Literally nobody outside of Beach City seems to know anything about the Gems, despite how much they screwed with the earth, and Beach City, despite having plenty of out-of-town visitors every summer, seems extremely disconnected from places outside of their town and they’re extremely used to weird alien junk happening. Three giant aliens who were tyrannical rulers mere moments before they went to earth showed up when there was a concert and everyone was just kinda like “oh hey Steven’s home.” Because of that, they wouldn’t really NOTICE anything to do with the kaijus and all that, Homeworld Gems were busy fixing their society and everyone on earth was just trying to chill out and finally live their lives in peace.
Neither knows the other exists, but at some point the base would pick up the Gems because they’re going to earth and hanging around it more, and I think that’d be a very silly interaction because none of the Gems understand what they’re talking about. “Kaijus??? Like those monsters from the movies??? We’ve heard of them.” “What do you mean there was a wormhole above earth? Oh, okay we were kind of busy with an intergalactic war around then. Thats why we didn’t notice.” “You know when the entirety of earth was enveloped in pink goo and everything almost died, then it was back to normal in about a week? Yeah, sorry, that was one of us.”
Super Giant Robot Brothers Season 2 opening idea: Thunder has been invited into the group chat. He's so confused. Doesn't know what a meme is and having a hard time understand text as well. Opening line is him confused going "Based? Based on what?"
I just watched Super Giant Robot Brothers on Netflix (great show, please watch it [well if you’re seeing this you probably did watch, but just in case, please check it out it’s awesome!]).
Anyway, after watching it and going on Tumbler to see what’s happening here with it, i’ve come here to do a bit of a brain dump on an idea I have.
Like what most people on Tumbler do.
So this is kind of an idea that I think would make a great episode or fanfic.
Ok, we all agree the Thunder is smart. Like insanely, right? That is a fact. (I know he’s a robot just roll with me.)
But then I remembered a fact about smart people. The thing is, people with higher intelligence have a harder time doing new things because they’re so used to things being easy for them that when something starts to challenge them they get frustrated and stop doing it. (I think this is mainly towards doing creative things, but I could be wrong don’t quote me on that.)
Because of that, I thought it would be a funny idea if Thunder tries to pick up something new, I don’t know what you can pick whatever you want, and him getting frustrated over the fact that he can’t do it.
And to rub a bit of salt into the wound, let’s make it so that Shiny can do the thing.
Just have Thunder trying so hard to do something but sucking at it while Shiny being amazing at it.
And we all know that the second Shiny finds out he’s better at something than Thunder, he can and will poke fun of Thunder for it. Just Shiny’s normal teasing that drives Thunder up the wall.
To the point where he says he thinks the activity in question is stupid and he doesn’t want to do it anymore, when in reality he’s just doing it by himself in the dead of night to get better at it and show up Shiny.
You know, just plain simple sibling rivalry and jealousy.
Bonus if Shiny realizes that Thunder is really struggling with this or he catching Thunder late at night and decides to help him out with it.
I want an entire episode of Super Giant Robot Brothers where, for some silly reason, Thunder and Shiny launch into a literal prank war with each other.
Like, Thunder and Shiny hacking into each other and making themselves say and do stupid things. Making the other look like an idiot on the news.
Just utterly harass each other and pretend like nothing's happening when Alex is around.
Alex: "What's going on here?"
Thunder and Shiny: "Nothing."
They immediately go back to glaring behind Alex's back.
I meant to share this so much sooner but I reeeeaaallly didn’t feel like editing (not to mention school) Also for the record I do not know how to edit and you guys aren’t allowed to make fun of me for it. So yes let us continue as I show more love for this silver blue robot by absolutely shoving them through the dirt.
Like how Shiny is randomly claustrophobic some of us think it would be hysterical if Thunder was scared of water (which is even more funny if you think about how most areas of water are like a kiddie pool to him)
Not only does Shiny have that autistic swag, but that ADHD swag as well. You can't tell me he doesn't have it because he gets so distracted so easily.
And of course Thunder also has the autism swag. Just in a different flavor.
I like to imagine the reason Thunder tripped out but Shiny didn’t in episode 8 is because Thunder just has Sensory Issues, and the bright lights triggered it, but since he doesn’t have the programming for a meltdown he just glitched out to acting like That.
And anyways my main point with this is that Thunder could get tripped out by a well lit disco ball. Which, lets be honest, would be HORRIBLE at a party.
But really what I see this leading to is a kaiju having rave lights and Thunder needing to fight it blind and Shiny instructing him like-
Shiny: alright bro now slide to the left- okay slide to the right- criss cross!!
Thunder: Shiny, are you just quoting the “Chacha Slide-” *(gets whacked by the kaiju’s tail and sent flying)*
Shiny, quietly and awkwardly while Thunder crashes into a nearby building: ……Chacha real smooth???
i do feel like i could write an entire fic of Thunder being afraid of thunderstorms because there is SO MUCH that could be done with that but also i have so many other things to write but also my brain wants super giant robot brothers content NOW

So I just found out that Shiny and Thunder are approximately 50 feet taller than the pacific rim Jaegers.

I see what I must do.
So ya I tried to draw and write what I had in mind about how thunder would end up getting hacked. I tried to make it stay close to the story’s lore because I pictured this happening in season two or something. I’m still not entirely sure how this would play out but I’m like 87 percent sure that I wanted Vanessa to be the only that manipulates Thunder’s system (I think she would have preferred Shiny just cause he seems more indestructible but he would have been much harder to get a hold of).
Also I would imagine that the EDF top prior would be fixing up Thunder asap so that only leaves a small open window for Vanessa to attack. I think Shiny and the rest of the crew would be busy doing like clean-up work or repairs (stuff like that) so during most of the afternoon/late night Thunder would be left by himself. (Just image creepy Thunder sneaking around the military base at the dead of night stealing information for Vanessa to use than acting normal the next day).
