serendipity (noun)
the phenomenon of finding something good you weren't explicitly looking for.

i wrote this a while back, and finally got around to making a collage! i'd be very happy if some of you would check it out, i'm very proud of it :)
For us who have lived through too many seasons of "next year," there would be a peculiar poetry in seeing him—the one who stayed, who suffered, who never wavered—be the one to end our long wait. For when that moment comes, whether it takes seventeen years or more, it will mean more because it was earned through unwavering loyalty, not just talent.
- Vincenzo Landino, The Weight of Destiny
...i just posted my first ever fic
if anyone reads it, pls let me hear your thoughts?? <3
Max:Â are you
Yuki:Â Fucking
Max:Â kidding me. You
Yuki:Â FUCKING.
Max:Â idiot
Checo:. what was that..?
Yuki:Â FIA banned Max from swearing, so I volunteered to help him out.
Daniel:Â I think you just like saying the f word.
Yuki: That doesn’t make my job any less important.
if i was charles, i would simply pull the 'but you promised 15-20 years of us racing together' card at max everytime he mentioned retirement. that + the puppy eyes would work 100%
I think Max has developed a new level of respect for Charles. Now that he finds himself in a situation that Charles has been in many times, namely a crappy car, an inconsistent team that makes mistakes. I think he has even more realized how talented Charles is to have managed to still be at the top, give good results and save his team despite all that.
Anon, given the amount of time Charles has already struggled with this in Ferrari, I don't think Max's respect for him is anything new. Not to mention the fact that Max also spent several years competing in a car that wasn't exactly performing all that well prior to winning his first WDC in 2021. Max made his F1 debut in 2014, after all, and it's not like he's been dominating since that day. Our favorite Dutchman is quite familiar with the struggles of subpar machinery himself prior to this season.
If there is one driver on the grid - and one person in the world in general - who has always been acutely aware of how exceptionally talented Charles is despite the dreadful machinery, and at times team, he's working with, and who has never once doubted Charles' ability as a driver regardless of results, it's Max. Hell, our boy has been praising Charles to the high heavens since his emotional support rival made it into F1, regardless of how Charles' car and team were performing. So I will have to disagree with you here, because that respect has always been there and I don't think it's anything new for Max at all.
What I do think Max has gained with the issues Red Bull has been experiencing this season, however, is a new level of realizing just how unhinged Charles Leclerc actually is. He has watched that man drag several versions of that red tractor to positions it has had no business being, year after year after year, while also dealing with a team who has lived on nothing but historic glory for 15+ years. He has watched Charles be fueled by but nothing but athletic insanity, rage, unparalleled stubbornness and the love of the Tifosi for years while his biggest (and most favorite, don't even try to fight me on this) rival has made F1 history repeatedly.
If anything, the only new thing Max has developed for Charles this season is that weird kind of fear you only feel towards someone who absolutely terrifies you, while still being the single most attractive and appealling person you have ever met.
Can I vent for a second? I never want to be one of those people who tries to dictate what others should write … but this is a huge pet peeve of mine.
Y/N is not the first female driver in Formula 1.
Maria Teresa de Filippis, Lella Lombardi, Divina Galica, Desiré Wilson, and Giovanna Amati did not put their blood, sweat, and tears into breaking barriers in real life only to be erased in fanfiction.
Y/N can be the first female driver in decades. Y/N can be the first female driver to race for a particular team. Y/N can be the first female driver to earn at least one point. Y/N can be the first female driver to stand on the podium. Y/N can be the first female driver to win.
But she is not the first female driver in Formula 1.
Don’t take that away from the real women who sacrificed so much to do what many deemed impossible.
hey btw charles refusing to drive the car until someone looked at it today was fantastic. i don't want to hear for a second that he was being whiney. 1) he was right and this allowed the problem to be solved but 2) THAT'S a driver who is taking control. people always ask why charles doesn't stand up to his team when given a shit strategy. this time he insisted on what he needed. 3) bryan's new to him and charles is setting a precedent to create a different relationship than he had with xavi. he wants his questions answered and he wants his opinion heard! and he made it heard! i was so proud of him today. and impressed with his ability to feel the issue that his engineers weren't seeing. any results he has this weekend will be derived from this moment.

still thinking of how charles cant do anything without dropping the world’s weight in whimsy and absolute cinema on the table like brother wins on pre-historic tyres and his engineer goes like you make me dream and he goes like the highs are so beautiful and of course it’s in the motorsport equivalent of a temple and its his cult ass teams home race and of fucking course he’s seen as like a crossover between holy mary mother of god and daenerys targaryen and everything just feels like you’re being seduced into a religion. also he has blowjob doe eyes and a dog he believes to be his biological child
Here are some f1 memes I made pt.2:

Okay one last post before the race.
Hamilton's post quali interview broke me.
Maybe it's the realization that he really is leaving Mercedes for good, because Kimi was officially announced earlier that day. The seat he'd held onto for so long no longer being his.
He's won championships with them.
Lost his best friend when he was with them.
I don't know what else could possibly make a seven time world champion doubt himself like that.
And it's for that reason I genuinely hope that Ferrari does right by him next year. That the Tifosi show him lots of love and acceptance. That he and Charles get along and that their fans at least try to be civil.
That for once, Ferrari makes the two of them good cars and makes good strategy calls.
I might be a little dramatic, he is a veteran but he's still leaving his home in a way.
I might be asking for too much (It's definitely too much) , but I hope he never regrets the move to Ferrari.
at least one thing is certain... norris getting pole doesn't mean anything since he's gonna lose it righ at the start as always
we still got hope!!!!!
please ferrari MAKE THE CAR DECENT FOR TOMORROW
any good lecfosi will tell you doomposting is allowed for up to one (1) hour after quali then you must go back to believing charles can win no matter where he starts from
Sometimes Max's and Charles' dynamic is wildly misinterpreted, because while most of the fans think that Max is probably more dominant due to his aggressive nature on track and his unforgettable Mad Max era, he's actually a softy with a huge heart that is too nice and cares about his friendships with other drivers even when they don't say nice things about him. Meanwhile, Charles is a menace, chaotic and adorable but also quite the troublemaker, being shit at other sports but always claiming, for the life of him, that he's the best. Charles is extremely competitive and wants to be the best at everything even when he's not (adorably so), and even though he speaks French and is widely loved by Italian men, he has quite the strong character, fiercely loyal and very protective of the people he loves.
And while Charles listens to the maxplaining because he can't deny that he lives for those debriefs, he will carefully listen to every word Max says to him and immediately clarify any points he disagrees with, insisting on his opinion until he can make Max see what he sees because he needs it. Charles is also aware that he's pretty and while he's humble, but not shy about it, he won't stop himself from batting his eyelashes at Max when he wants to get his attention because he knows Max can't resist him.
And Max really can't resist Charles when he's near him and probably goes home and thinks of things that he can say to Charles and get away with like if the Singaporean flag is actually Monaco's; and when his mind goes blank because Charles is too pretty and Max forgot the list of things he had prepared, he asks him about the weather and tells him about how he hurt his elbow.
Baby girl Max is probably Charles' favorite and while Max is a champion on track and probably turns Charles on when Max gets all aggressive with him while they're battling wheel to wheel, because yeah, Charles wants to win and Max is his biggest rival but also...he knows Max the most and he's secretly so proud of him when Max doesn't budge an inch and that's the most fun he has in races. As payback, though, Charlie likes to tease him, naming his dog after him and giving him lopsided winks because it gets Max all flustered and bothered.
There are moments, of course, when Max's feelings are too much to handle and calls out to him, "Charlie, I have space for you" because of course, he fucking does. They reminisce about the good old days, the inchident that they refuse to let anyone forget about, when the fire inside of them flamed so high that they almost burned themselves. However, Max will always talk about Charles' racing and use it to flirt with him because racing is his element and if there's one thing he's absolutely sure of, it's that Charles' driving is beautiful and if Max got into F1, then so would Charles.
Charles, on the other hand, knows how to sweet talk his way out of anything and works the crowd so well that when the fans boo his baby, he immediately quiets them down, because if you love Charles, then you have to love Max, it's a two for one kind of deal. And Charles Leclerc will always be the so-called Monaco prince and maybe this is why Max secretly moved there, where the color of the sea reminds him of deep green eyes.
Max...he's a three-time world champion and the only person that can really take him on is Charles; born only sixteen--yes, sixteen, no relation to the Ferrari boy's number--days apart to challenge each other into one of the greatest mechanical love stories of their generation, it was predestined and inevitable.
Off track, though, he's actually Charlie's baby girl, soft and sweet with clear ocean eyes and a sharp tongue that wraps around Charles' name like a prayer.
The point is, their dynamic is like this:
Charles is the dominant one, often playing Max the same way he plays the piano, focused and attuned to him; and Max likes to dive headfirst into Charles, because he's most alive when the sun shines through the rain.
"You did a miracle today, Charles!"
and i'm so here for it

I think everyone who is so upset about F1 Academy needs to take a breath and remember this is not the only series they are racing in.
The end goal is not to take some 16 yr old girl and just shove her into an f1 car and call it a success. The goal is to get these women up the formula 1 ladder and do it in a realistic manner. Most of these girls are competing in their various f4 seasons at the same time. Or others like lia block do rally cross, doriane pin was supposed to race in le mans, chloe chambers is killing it in America! The goal of f1 academy is to fucking normalize women being successful in motorsport and giving them opportunities to be successful!
Like when talking about f1 academy we talk about how the cars are 'to slow' but the important part is they are in the cars and getting that practice and those points and the cost isn't coming out of their pockets. F1 academy is getting these girls into f1 teams development programs. Which is huge because if you look at it you'll realize both Bianca Bustamante and Maya weug are the first women in their teams respective programs!
They are getting access to equipment, facilities, trainers, and some of the best teams in the world for motorsport and all of this is in part to f1 Academy. And this series is allowing them to get a majorly important thing, say it with me now, SPONSORS! Because let's be real if they didn't have the publicity of f1 academy they likely wouldn't have some of their life changing sponsorships.
Anyways this makes no sense but everyone should shut up and go support these ladies because there's a chance the future female f1 driver is out there watching right now and she deserves to feel inspired, represented, and supported from the very beginning
do i have work to do? idk, haven’t checked.
am i going to check?? nuh uh.
am i gonna rewatch Bones from the start and skip eps im uncomfortable with? uh, hell yeah!!!
btw nothing can compare to the betrayal i felt watching williams’ slow shift to toxicity regarding their management of logie bear, apart from sitting in the theatre in 2013 watching hans say oh ana if only there was someone out there who loved you
sometimes i just have to sit and think abt charles, this kid who watched the red car all his life, called ferrari his "magnificent dream," who owes his career to jules whose death also literally saved his life when he was the first person to be saved by the halo (added to the cars bc of jules), who pulled himself up days after his father's death and didn't just win the race that earned him the f2 championship but won it from the back of the grid, who became rookie of the year & the youngest pole award winner (twice), who drove in monaco like he'd rather die in that wall than give up a millisecond and was the first from his country to win it, who got the longest f1 contract ever seen, the sun of maranello, the predestined one, the world champion's twin flame. you hear how the tifosi believe he is the one who will bring glory back to the scuderia and you can't deny their reasoning. he's a storybook. he's the hero. he's come this far for something.
I see it again and again, people trying to judge things that happen in F2 by the measurements in F1 and i understand that the official titles and descriptions are misleading many fans into believing they are the exact same but they are not so here is a small explanation;
What is the goal in F1? Obviously, winning titles, both drivers championship and constructor championship. How do you achieve that? Build the fastest car, get the best drivers, and make the most points. Now what's the goal in F2? You’d think it's winning the title, but actually it's showing off skill and attracting F1 teams. How do you do that? Again, you’d think you would win and get the most points, but that hasn’t been the focus in years, today it's showing off your skill.
But shouldn't skill translate to wins? Well, technically yes, but there's two more huge differences between F1 and F2. First of all, the drivers are younger, they are more reckless and crash more often. The drivers DNF a lot more and oftentimes they are not at fault but they don't get points, also there's things like the reverse grid which are active tools so drivers can show off their overtaking skills too.Â
More importantly though, is the fact that F2 is a spec series while F1 is also an engineering contest. For explanatory reasons; in F2 every driver has the same base car, the teams can change set-up and such things but generally the cars perform very similarly. There's still some performance differences because certain teams work better with the cars but it's not comparable to F1, where every team more or less builds their own car.
Now here is the point where a lot of people misunderstand the use of F2; F1 teams look at F2 drivers and choose who they want for their teams and this year, Oliver Bearman and Kimi Antonelli are closely discussed while Paul Aron with more points is pretty much ignored. A lot of people expect the F2 champion to get an F1 seat, but in this year, even if he makes less points, Antonelli is proving himself to be a world class driver with overtakes like this one. Antonelli suffered through, with multiple DNFs, getting involved in crashes and other things out of his hand, while Aron was very lucky, at least until Spa where we could see how even good drivers can get really unlucky.Â
In the end, F1 teams know the best which driver is really good and which drivers fit their cars the best. They are observing the drivers in all the younger categories, so if Aron is really good enough for F1, a team will pick him up, but at the moment he doesn't show the results.
The same goes by the way for F3Â
Probably not even done with this series, but here’s all of them, at once.
I don’t even know how to feel
Someone finally must have asked McLaren the right questions about Hungary!
Autosport have finally got to the bottom of it. Things we have all been saying since the race.
Andrea Stella admits thry didn’t have a plan that took into consideration Lewis and Max behind them.
Could you ever imagine Red Bull or Mercedes being caught out like that?
So they put the two drivers into a situation they hadn’t discussed. Lando found himself out in front and assumed this was what the team had planned.
And then the pitwall proceeded to not communicate this to Lando. And seemingly did not know how to communicate it.
So somehow the guy who is driving round at 300kph is left thinking he needs to up his game.
Being given position, with no prior plan of this and he is looking at catching Max in the Driver’s Championship, what exactly was he meant to think?
However, they realise, without all the information how can they expect either driver to just simply comply.
The fact that post race the engineers seemed to have a different understanding of the morning meeting than the pitwall mid race is scary as hell. No wonder Lando and Oscar were asking questions from the second pitstop onwards.
They might have been told post race they were free to race after the second pitstop but the radio messages and the fact Lando assumed they were in final positions after that point says otherwise.
Oscar and Lando are many things. Psychic is not one of them!
They have a shot at both championships. This is not a training camp, it’s happening now. This needs sorting out.
I know it must be hard for a team to publicly admit their failings BUT the whole world saw and heard them. At least they acknowledge it. Even if it has taken them all week.
My only hope is they have looked back on the radio messages and privately have realised how damming and manipulative they sounded and have addressed that.
btw spa qualifying is what people mean when they say often what looks like "making mistakes" is actually testing the limit of the car. if you watched charles's first lap from the on board, it was super rocky, he was hitting every curb hard, cutting everything super tight. his last lap, he was MILLIMETERS off the curb everywhere and incredibly smooth, nearly flawless and able to cut down any bouncing that way and save a ton of time, because he went psycho, balls to the wall in his first lap. it's the same mindset that has sometimes led him to spin out in quali or practice throughout the year, but it's because he is well and truly fearless and he finds the limit and then dials it back. and when it works, it's gold. i always think about that reporter who said ferrari needs to essentially let charles be insane, because even when his risks don't pay off, it's better to fail gloriously than in mediocrity. that's exactly what we saw pay off today -- because sometimes, it really fucking works.
