for the longest time he just left his hair slicked back or combed over. (yes im pushing my choir boy reg agenda WHAT ABT IT) like he didnt even know he had curls till he was too lazy to comb it over one lazy morning and all of a sudden his head was a frizzy curled mess. (picture a horrible perm) he didnt even know until a slytherin first year who was jumping through hoops for his favor offered to teach him a bird repelling spell. after asking why, he was horrified and the first year apologized.

He tried potions and spells and chants and stones yet nothing seemed to help calm his hair... and he couldn't very well ask Sirius for help since his hair was much less coiled than Regulus's. After about a month of tireless effect (anger filled quidditch practices when he cursed every great wizard for keeping the one muggle custom of hating anything that isn't straight) he finally caved and called in reinforcements.

You know where I'm going with this, right?

HE CALLED LILY, JAMES AND REMUS!

Listening carefully, while James nodded without actually listening (occasionally saying things like 'mhm mhm yes sir you make a fine point.' to impress or bother lily enough that she'll like him ...she'll never admit it but she giggled a little internally) operation make 'regulus handsome again!' was forced in motion.

James tried a natural salve that his dad made that 'enhanced your roots and made your strands shine!' It sort of worked, except they found out that Regulus is allergic to unicorn horn dust and sapflowers.

Lily tried massaging oils that she'd seen her mom use occasionally (and Mrs Evans had the prettiest curls ever!) but it weighed down the strands too much since she applied enough for three people so regulus kind of just looked like Snape. (After regulus saw his reflection, he looked like he'd braved a fight with a dementor)

Remus, who'd been the last one to try anything, and who did the least for his curls (yet they still looking impeccable! fking lupin genes 😒) decided to lend Regulus some of his self made soaps and conditioners that never really worked for him. Regulus did, reluctantly, and found that the frizz was almost gone, and that it smelled very reminiscent of citrus and eucalyptus. In fact, they looked so good that not only did lily ask for the recipe and James berated Remus for never hooking him up with his idiotic talent for accidentally making things that work wonderfully, he was able to convince his mother to left him open his own gringotts vault (of which he planned to use to finally rid his surroundings of those horrid walls of horrid memories.) the end!!!!!! Idk when I wanted this to go but it went somewhere I think

super duper random but I think the reason I'm not really head over heels for Sirius or super big on wolfstar like everyone else is because I kinda see him as aromatic. I don't think he's aroace, just aro. Or maybe at least on the arospec. His family was the first thing he knew, the first thing he loved, and he's traumatised from the shit he saw, had done to him, and was forced to do. I feel like that just really messed up his perception of love.

ABSOLUTELY NO HATE ON WOLFSTAR. They still hold my heart in their silly little clawed hands. But like. Idk.

I think another thing that kinda peeves me is the way that Sirius is portrayed as kind of.. emotionally dull. Like he's either too sexualised, or just really emotionally hurtful (I feel like abusive is too strong of a word) towards Remus and the people around him. He's about the only character we have a set personality on. He's used to the floodgate of emotions he feels, he's probably more emotionally aware than Lily even. He's childish, and quick to anger in the books, but after years of having your worst and lowest moments replayed over and over again while your teeth ache and rot, I think he's got a right to be. In school, he was better. Though still bad from the ongoing abuse from his parents.

I don't think he was unfixable, I think he just took a lot of time to heal from everything. He's able to form platonic relationships, of course, but he doesn't really have any desire for anything romantic. He used to think something was wrong with him and tried to force himself to do what everyone else was doing, dating and stuff, but he just never clicked with it. He can love, he isn't like incapable of it, but it's just not romantic. I think he's his own person who doesn't need a relationship to make his world round once more, I think he'd much rather have plenty of people around with whom he's formed bonds with that'll last long past his death. That's because he doesn't like doing one thing for too long, and because he feels like the idea of having to love someone is too specific for it to be for him.

I think even after Azkaban he feels this way, maybe even more so, but he's more appreciative of the people around him. Just a little ramble

To remus: 'are you a broom? cause I wanna ride you till my legs are shaking,' a maybe, since remus started to blush but that was mostly cause lily said it while helping him apply oil to his scars while in his lap and remus always got nervous in close proximity.

To marlene: 'are you treacle tart? cause... stop laughing!' a no since she couldn't actually finish it because marlene was picturing james 'dick drawing' potter having sex and couldnt stop laughing since she imagined him making the same grandpa noises as he did during practice.

And last, but not least; from sirius, since he didn't want to picture his everything-but-blood brother shagging his everything-but-the-ring sister-in-law because 'do you really think james cares if you're sexy or not? You could show up dressed as a crazy cat lady with the hair-curlers and nightgown and ugly slippers and he'd still think you're the hottest and prettiest thing- ow! woman! he's ever seen. Stop worrying!'

which made lily realise she was being silly, and that if james really broke up with her cause she wasn't sexy enough, he wasn't worth it any way. (She still used the pickup lines on him just to see his reactions and wasn't disappointed when his jaw literally dropped and his pupils dilated)

my favorite Remus by far is Remus who is always just a little bit off; never fitting or slotting perfectly in anywhere with anyone. He insists to himself that he doesn't mind, that to fit into conformity would be killing off every part of him that makes him interesting, and maybe eventually he starts to actually believe it.

it all begins to seep out of his many cracks as his mind moves too quickly, and he can't stop the outpour of tears that doesn't even phase James anymore, as he wordlessly tucks Remus against his chest with a purposefully nailed hands raking gentle strokes along his back. Remus begs for an answer, asking if he truly means it when the boys say they love him, and that it isn't just some cruel prank or plan to be spared from werewolf attacks, and James wishes he could feed the love into his brain because words don't always seem to reach him. He doesn't mean to be the insecure friend who needs purpose, honest. These breakdowns occur about every other month, when the bottle gets too full and bubbles over.

this isn't necessarily meant to be moonchaser/rem+jam, but you could read it as such. Honestly I didn't even think of that as a ship but i think after i post this imma look for fics cuz that sounds so cute. I see James as the warm bodied friend, who doesn't hesitate to comfort and wrap himself around his friends when they're struggling, but he's not the best with loving words so it's soft scratches. I think Sirius is too straightforward to be able to deal with the melts, and peter freezes anytime he sees tears.

Yes, they are? I'm not sure how to respond to this. I dont interact and actively avoid hollywoods fav celebrities as such listed because there's a reason the racist community loves them so. I mentioned noah specifically because he's the most outwardly pro-Israel and the one most people know about. Most people excuse noah, primarily white queer people who say they don't care about politics, because he's gay and "good for representation and bringing down the straight norm in Hollywood" (which there's like fifteen different better answers if ur looking for someone like that but Hollywood as a whole is fucked if you haven't realised that already so it's pointless to try and teach an old racist sexist homophobic new progressive tricks)

With celebrities like Timothee, people usually excuse him with a "well he never outwardly said that" or "it was just a joke! Grow up!" So it's harder to get people to see that cracking jokes like that is basically just showing how complacent you are in the genocide and how little you value the lives of Palestinians, and generally just brown people as a whole.

They will never be fully canceled because there will always be people who don't care enough about that tiny little inconvenience of being unable to binge their favourite show rather than stop consuming to prove that we're not blind and see shit they try and hide. This is probably phrased horribly but I hope I got what I was trying to say across

Anyways, abt jegulus -- i acc had a reaaally long post about how much i hated the dynamic (in canon compliant ish works -- Jegulus in aus is fine ig) but i deleted it lol.

I think the core reason why i dislike the pairing so much is that I feel like it the ship goes against everything James stands for. We don't know a lot about James' character in canon, but what we do know is that he had a strong sense of justice, and fierce loyalty to his friends and his cause, which ultimately led to his doom. I just can't imagine that James would associate with someone even a little bit bigoted. This is not to say i think James is a saint, i think he could be an ass sometimes (snapes worst memory lol) but i think he's draw the line at someone who was associated with 'evil'. James had a very black and white view of good and bad and i just don't think it would make sense for James to date reg, esp as he is becoming a death eater. James may be a dick but he is the biggest ally to ever ally !!

The only jegulus fics I have read are 'Just Lovers' and 'Choices'. Just lovers is a non-voldy au so i don't really have a problem with their dynamic there but choices on the other hand,, oh boy.

Spoilers for 'Choices' by MesserMoon btw (TW for talk of SA):

Regulus' friends rape Mary. And instead of feeling disgusted on the victim’s behalf, (who has been his friend for 5 years) James instead feels upset because it tarnishes the ‘good’ image he has of reg in his head. Thing is when a similar situation happened (The Prank ™), James was upset that Sirius would do such a thing but he also felt disgusted on behalf of Remus. Where was that energy here, huh?? I’ve even seen comments villianising Mary (the rape victim).

The thing I also hate about their dynamic is that it is basically an ally of the oppressor and ally of the oppressed. The problem with that is that when you are allied with the oppressor, you become an oppressor yourself (and reg does; he does terrible things) and that subsequently makes the so-called ally of the oppressed in cahoots with the oppressor as well. This brings so many parallels to real life where people say that they are an “ally” but become friends with/date a racist/rapist. “Oh but they’re nice to me”. James is supposed to be my comfort character; not an accidental allegory for those horrible, hypocritical, self-proclaimed ‘liberals’.

And in other jegulus canon-compliant-ish fics, sometimes instead of James' character being watered down its Regulus' character. Like, he's not as morally grey, not as complex etc so it makes sense that James would agree to date him. I feel like jegulus as a ship ruins the core of what made their characters so interesting in the first place.

That being said,,, i do love me some canon-compliant unrequited jegulus. Regulus goes to hogwarts, gets so mad at Sirius for ditching him or whatever, but falls in love with the very guy that stole sirius away. He also has internalised homophobia because he's a Black brother so imagine the angst. James potter goes against everything he stands for,, sirius betrayed him,, but perhaps they're right abt smth?? Perhaps he needs to do smth. But alone. Because in my head Regulus is always tragic and alone.

Anyways sorry for rambling but these are my thoughts on jegulus !! To sum up i think it ruins core of these characters, i prefer jily and i love me some unrequited gay pining for the boy who you're brother replaced u with
