This is my contribution to the wonderful @bg3-winter-big-bang project. I wrote a fun winter-themed Tavstarion smut fic while the lovely @elorathebard provided the beautiful render based on a scene in the fic!

I find it kind of funny that human babies are so fragile and helpless and useless that natural selection went like HARD-hard on humans finding babies cute. This thing is a wailing messy resource sinkhole so please find other reason to enjoy it. And the humans that did find baby cute and invest time in them, the crazy bastards?? Lived!!

And now there’s so much spill-over from “baby cute” gene that humans see literally any “baby” creature that even slightly resembles us, like

and we’re like 😍🥰🤩🥺🥺🥺 I wanna love you so bad. I wanna make so many images of you, you are so small, just baby. I’m inventing new emotions as we speak bc I love you so much.

Like, I’m almost convinced humans didn’t even domesticate dogs bc we thought they’d be useful, we saw some puppies and it activated our Big Boi Primate Baby buttons, it wasn’t even logic time baby, it was 🥺 time.

I think you said a while back that you’re writing the fanfic series with an explanation in mind for the connection between earth and toril. Can we shoot you with our guesses? I got a theory over the weekend and I’m wondering how close I got.

I actually just finished the chapter where Gale goes full nerd in speculation. I probably won’t confirm anything or not, but if you want to, I am curious to see what people’ve picked up on.

So I recently watched Bones and All (hope you’re familiar with it, I’d feel bad spoiling it in case you aren’t but are interested in it!) - and I’ve been unable to stop thinking about the ending. Do you think that, when Tav‘s life was coming to an end and they’d ask Astarion for it, would he do a bones and all on them and feed from them one last time, draining them dry? Personally, I think my Tav would see it as a last goodbye, giving him a chance at savoring their blood/the memory of feeding on them one last time while also slipping away rather peacefully (judging by how the narrator frames it during bite night when you don’t stop him, it isn’t very painful and you just drift off.). I’ve been torturing myself with the mental image of Astarion being extremely emotional while trying to honor Tav‘s last wish, trying to savor that connection one last time while also grieving immensely and maybe struggling with a sense of guilt for a few days now.

i know in my heart that astarion would absolutely hate doing it, but if tav asked i think he would.

another funeral rite i can see him doing is keeping a vial of tav's blood somewhere, like in a pendant or something. the vampire version of keeping a lock of someone's hair. or have it preserved as a gem for a ring
