iamhalsey: It’s become very clear to me that some of you need to see what I’ve seen. Please swipe through this. These pictures and videos don’t even scratch the surface. It’s easy from the comfort of your home to watch looting and rioting on television and condone the violent measures being taken by forces. But what you don’t see is innocent peaceful protestors being shot at and tear gassed and physically assaulted relentlessly. You think it’s not happening, it’s only the “thugs” and the “riots”, right? The police are keeping you safe right? You’re wrong. This is happening everywhere. And innocent people exercising their rights to speech and assembly are facing violence and abuse of power. With all of our medical professionals being CONSUMED and EXHAUSTED with Covid, there is little to no medical attention available. I have first hand treated men women and children who have been shot in the chest, the face, the back. Some will lose vision some have lost fingers. I have been covered in innocent blood. My father is a black man. My mother is an EMT. This week I had to put those two associations together in ways that have horrified me. This is NOT a virtue signaling post. But I HAVE to show you what I am witnessing with my own eyes. With Trump’s decision today to enforce the mobilization of armed forces on our own citizens, this has escalated beyond your privilege and comfort to not care. Please care. We are begging you to care. I am writing you about the murder of George Floyd by MPD officers Derek Chauvin, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng, and Tou Thao. These men were not upholding the law, they were committing murder and terrorizing their community. Being fired is not an appropriate response to the crime. All officers must be charged with murder.

We cannot continue this way. This is not the way forward. Use your station and power for change; for good. Give a voice to the smothered. Prove that all lives matter. Do your job.

Sometimes I watch old mgk interviews and I wonder who let this man open his mouth on camera

i know it feels great when our white faves stand up for things that are important to us – especially if we aren’t used to them doing that – but just a friendly reminder that it is never, and has never been, appropriate to center them in the middle of conversations on racial justice. they are not the revolutionaries in a charge against systemic racism and discrimination, they posted a tweet and an instagram story.

instead of celebrating them for doing the bare minimum and “solving racism” maybe think about donating to frontline organizations in minneapolis like the bail fund, reclaim the block or black visions, start a petition asking your local police department to require body cams, commit to calling white voters in battleground states to get racists out of office, and do your research so that you can engage in impactful anti-racist action beyond just thanking a celebrity for posting on social media

Willie Simmons has spent 38 years in prison for a $9 robbery. He had two prior convictions similar to robbery that he served time for. He was prosecuted under the Alabama Habitual Offender law and was given a life sentence for his third strike - stealing 9 (NINE) dollars. Sign his petition. 

Breonna Taylor was killed by police who were conducting an UNANNOUNCED drug raid, where they gave no request to enter. They bashed her door and entered, shooting her EIGHT times. They were in the WRONG HOUSE. 

George Floyd was killed by a police officer who knelt on his neck and suffocated him to death, after George pleaded with the officer and told him he couldn’t breathe. The officer had pulled him from where he sat in his car on an alleged FORGERY. You can also text “FLOYD” to 55156

ARREST THE OFFICERS WHO KILLED GEORGE FLOYD: The main police officer who murdered George is being kept in PROTECTIVE CUSTODY. You probably have heard he was arrested, but this is NOT TRUE. He was placed under PROTECTIVE custody because of the riots and “threats” on his life.

ways to support the blm movement

this google doc includes a list of petitions to sign, resources to help educate yourself and others, organizations to donate to, and contacts of law officials to get in touch with to express your support for the george floyd and black lives matter movements. this includes ways to help even if you don’t live in america. please read it and support the movement. 

use your voice. use every platform you have, no matter how big or how small. nothing will change if you just sit there and watch. if you think you’re the exception, you’re not. remaining indifferent will only support the oppressor. do something.

write to your legal representatives. express your support for legislation that would bring justice to the unarmed civilians who’ve been murdered by law enforcement officers. demand for justice. 

call 612-324-4499 ㅡ this is a hotline that will coach you on how to get connected with the people who can arrest the officers that murdered george floyd. 

create serious conversation. stop demeaning people who disagree with your philosophies on how to overcome. it is useless and no better than the practices of the oppressor to silence. we need to listen to each other with respect and really consider how we can combine our perspectives to create practical change. 

please feel free to add any links or resources or information that you think will be helpful and also reblog to spread awareness. the systems we are fighting against were literally created to oppress marginalized communities and therefore will not go down without a fight. we need to collectively stand up and do something about it. 

I am as proud as you are to see Kells and Yungblud and Halsey going into the streets and join the protests in LA, I really am. But please remember they're not there to entertain you and there is nothing sensational about their presence there, treat them like they're regular people supporting a good cause. They're just people that can do a little bit more than what we can by using their platforms to inspire people to take action, please bare in mind they want you to join them, not brag about their good actions!

The thing that’s bothering me about Bloody Valentine is no one’s talking about the video in the media. They’re not talking about the artistry or what the story represents, they’re only talking about how he’s oBvIoUsLy fucking Megan Fox.

I don’t want to read about that when he releases new work. I want to talk about his craft, not who he’s sticking his wick in. I’m so tired of Hollywood and their contrived af hetero narratives. We’re on what...the fourth or fifth woman he’s allegedly “dating” in five months? Like damn...someone fire his PR team.

Megan is gorgeous. She was actually really cute in the vid as well. But can’t they just be colleagues? Isn’t it possible that because they’ve been working on a movie together he might have just asked her if she just wanted to be in his video?

You were in the Uber on the way home, secretly crying in the back so the Uber driver couldn’t hear you. You couldn’t help but think about seeing Colson in bed with another girl. It really got to you and you hated that it did and it shouldn’t have affected you but it did. You were in your own thoughts when you heard your phone, it was a text from Colson.

“Why did you leave?”

“I’m surprised you noticed considering you were too busy getting girls into your bed”

You put your phone on silent and put it back in your bag. You didn’t want to look at your phone in case he messaged you back. You didn’t want to talk to him. You were sick of the way he was treating you and you wasn’t going to put up with it.

You walked into your house and crashed on the sofa, kicking your heels off. You got your phone out your bag to find a couple missed calls and a few text messages, all off Colson. You didn’t want to continue this little spat you had with him, especially on his birthday. You got up from the sofa and changed out of your dress and put on some comfy clothes, you were glad to be back in some baggy clothes. You walked into your kitchen to make yourself a warm drink and you heard knocking on your door. You put the kettle down and walked over to your door and you opened it to find Colson was stood right in front of you,

“What are you doing here Colson?”

“You left my party without a goodbye… Also, I think we need to talk”

You motioned for him to come into your house and directed him into the kitchen. You sat down on a stool whereas Colson stood on the opposite side of the counter. This felt awkward and you hated it.

“What’s the matter with you Y/N? You’ve been acting strange for a while and I hate it when we aren’t talking”, he sounded quite worried. You tried to not look at him because if you did you would melt into those beautiful blue eyes but you needed to tell him how you feel.

“I am going to be straight with you now Colson because this is something that I have been keeping to myself for a while. I know we said it would just be a bit of fun between us but the more we were intimate with each other, the more I could feel myself falling in love with you”

You tried to not look at Colson because you didn’t want to see his reaction so you kept looking down at your hot drink. You heard footsteps thinking Colson was walking away but you felt his arms wrap around your waist and his head buried into your neck. You turned around on your stool and wrapped your arms around him. You needed this hug and having Colson still here with you meant a lot.

“I have to go Y/N”

You looked up at him feeling hurt. Why is he leaving after you poured your heart out to him?

“Please don’t go. I need you”, you could feel yourself welling up inside as he let go of you. He started to back away from you which then you ended getting up out of your seat to follow him.

“I am not good for you Y/N. You need someone who is going to give you what you need. I can’t do that, I’m sorry”, he opened the door and walked away. How could he leave like that? You started to cry as you felt your heart shatter into a million pieces. You sat on the floor in the hallway with your knees close up to your chest crying. You stayed like this for about half an hour but when you finally calmed, you picked yourself up and dragged yourself to bed. You couldn’t properly sleep as all you could think about was the way Colson walked out on you. You still couldn’t believe he would walk out on you like that, you two were supposed to be really close and he walked out. These thoughts kept reoccurring in your head that you didn’t realise it was 4AM but after a while you could feel yourself getting drowsy and you slowly dropped off.

It was past 12 in the afternoon and you just woke up. You couldn’t believe you slept in late but the sleep was definitely needed after a shitty night you had. You got up out of bed and made your way downstairs to the kitchen and put the kettle on. You needed a strong coffee to wake yourself up. You sat in your kitchen admiring your back garden and you heard your phone buzz. It was a text from Rook.

“Hey Y/N, would you be able to swing by the house within the next hour?”

You debated with yourself whether or not it was a good idea but you were curious to see what Rook wanted so you messaged him to say you will be there as soon as possible.

You drank your coffee and walked upstairs to your bedroom to get ready. You still had last night’s makeup so you quickly washed your face and whacked your hair up in a bun. You chose to wear a baggy shirt and a pair of ripped skinny jeans and a pair of your favourite converse. You grabbed your car keys and drove straight over to the guys house. You wondered why Rook needed you to go over, does he know about what happened between you and Colson last night? You parked in their driveway and walked up to the house. Rook saw you walking up the path from the window and he rushed to the door to open it.

“Hey Rook, what’s up? Is everything alright?”

You gave Rook a cuddle, you were glad to see him as he was also one of your closest friends.

“I’m just worried about Colson, he got back to the house last night and his eyes were all puffy and red from crying and went straight to his room. He hasn’t come out yet”

You were starting to worry so you rushed up the stairs and went straight to Colson’s room. You opened the door slowly and peeped your head in. You saw Colson sat up in bed just scrolling through his phone, you walked in closing the door behind you and walked over to his bed and sat next to him…

It was just a bit of fun between you and Colson, you two would occasionally hook up after a drunken night out but overall you were really good friends. When things were good between you two, they were really good but if things started to go downhill, things would go sour. 

This was one of those times. You haven’t spoken to Colson in over a week because of a stupid argument you both had. You were upset over the fact he had ditched you to go off with some random girl but he thought it would be okay because you two were “just friends” but you weren’t having any of it. Later that evening, Colson tried to call you a couple of times but you chose to ignore every one of his calls. You didn’t want to speak to him and who could blame you but it didn’t stop him from swinging round to your place.

“Y/N can we talk please? I don’t understand why you are being such a dick all of sudden”, he shouted through the letterbox. You scoffed at the dig he just made so you rushed to open the door. You were so angry that you were ready for an argument.

“I’m being a dick! Says the asshole who left me to get one over with some random girl. I can’t believe you would think I would be okay with you ditching me for another girl”.

You two were stood at your front door, shouting and swearing at each other and when you had enough you slammed the door in his face. He continued banging on your door but after a while of ignoring him, he left. You peeped through your curtains and watched him walk back to his car and drove off.

That was over a week ago and you have not heard from him since. The guys have been messaging you to see if you were alright or if you wanted to chill with them but it wasn’t the same. The one person you needed to make you feel better is the same person you aren’t speaking to. However, it was Colson’s birthday tomorrow and you didn’t want to let one little argument ruin his day. You were going to be the bigger person and apologise first, even though it shouldn’t be you apologising but you needed Colson in your life and one argument was not going to get in the way of your friendship.

You woke up the next day to the sound of your phone going off. You looked at your phone and saw that Rook was calling you.

“Hey Y/N, I’m just wondering are you still coming to the party tonight for Colson? He has missed you like crazy. It has driven us crazy with the amount of moping around he has done over you”

“Of course, Rook, I wouldn’t miss it at all!”.

Rook was thrilled and so was you. You were kind of glad that he was miserable over you. That would teach him for going off with other girls and ditching you.

“Any ways Y/N I have got to go and prepare for tonight. See you later at the party”.

He hung up the phone and you got out of bed to get ready. You needed a new outfit for tonight so you got ready to hit the shops. You looked around for a while to find the perfect outfit and that’s when you saw IT. You saw a beautiful, slim-fitted black, glittery dress and it had a split on the side. You snapped that dress up quick before anyone else could and bought some cute shoes to go with. You were pretty happy with the outfit; you were sure it would turn heads tonight but you were hoping it would turn one in particular.

You arrived at Colson’s place and you could hear the music from down the path. You could tell there were loads of people here based on how many cars were parked up on the drive and on the side roads. You were feeling nervous just because you hadn’t seen or spoken to Colson for a while but you missed him and you needed him in your life. You walked up to the door and knocked a couple of times, you didn’t want to feel rude and just let yourself in. As you were waiting for somebody to open the door you quickly looked on your phone just browsing through Instagram. You heard the door open but before you could look up to see who it was, you felt yourself being lifted off the ground and spun around. You managed to pull yourself together and you realised it was Colson. He was very happy to see you; it was the happiest you had ever seen him. It was to see him and he was looking fine. He was wearing a pair of white jeans and a very colour shirt but it wasn’t done up fully so you could see the tattoos on his chest.

“Y/N I am so fucking happy to see you. I am really glad you came tonight; my birthday wouldn’t have been the same without you celebrating it with me”.

You couldn’t help but notice the way he was staring at you. Admiring how the dress hugged your curves and the way it shimmered underneath the lights. This made you blush but you liked that he couldn’t take his eyes off you.  

“I couldn’t miss your birthday sweet pea. It would be a real dick move”, you nudged Colson playfully which made him snap out of his staring. He nudged you back but then he placed his arm around you and brought you into the house. You walked into the kitchen with Colson and you found some of the guys just chilling. They all cheered and wolf-whistled at you. You were loving the attention.

“Dammmnnn girl, you look fire”, Rook said as he twirled you around whilst you had Slim and Baze wolf whistling at you. As the guys were complimenting you noticed that Colson had stormed off. It had been a few hours and you had not seen Colson. You spent most of the evening with Rook and Slim, chilling in the living room sat with a bunch of people you barely knew. You could feel yourself getting irritated with the way Colson was acting towards you so you got up from the sofa and went to look for him. You looked around downstairs for him and he was nowhere to be seen so you went upstairs to see if he was up there. You were hoping he was up here alone and not with some random girl. You approached the bedroom door and you could feel your heart beating fast.

“Please be alone, please be alone, please be alone”, you repeated this in your head over and over. You opened the door and you heard some ruffles. You walked in to find Colson was in bed with another girl. Shock.

“Y/N what are you doing?”, he snapped at you.

“Well I thought we could actually spend some time together considering we haven’t in a while and then we had that fight…”, as you were talking you could hear that girl giggling and that’s when you snapped.

“Fuck you. Seriously, I am done. Enjoy the rest of your night. I am out”.

You slammed the door shut and stormed off. You didn’t feel like saying goodbye to anyone, you left without acknowledging anyone around you. You had a bit too much to drink so you couldn’t drive but you weren’t going to stay around much longer. You ordered yourself an Uber but you didn’t want to wait at the house so you set the location to pick you up from around the corner and you walked off. You looked behind to see if Colson was coming after you but when you saw that he wasn’t, you could feel tears streaming down your face.
