An otayuri short story
I wrote this while being sleep deprived but I just had to write something hahaha
Yuri Plisetsky was bored. The season just ended and instead of practicing, he was given a day off to relax, but there wasn’t much to do here in Russia. Viktor had left for Japan to meet “his Yuuri” (and the teen shuddered at that), he didn’t want to hang out with Mila or Georgi.
His phone let Yuri know that he got a text message and he went to get it, happily noticing that it was from his best friend Otabek, who was staying in Russia with him. The teen was overjoyed when his friend asked if he wanted to come over in the evening, watch some movies (since the hotel had a TV and there was a movie marathon upcoming) and have a few drinks. Otabek wanted to test if Yuri knew the movies’ content and the blonde was up for any challenge that involved ‘beating someone’s ass’. Grinning, he made his way to his friend’s hotel room he was staying in once the evening came, bringing some drinks with him.
Both boys had fun, even though Yuri complained that Otabek had a 'shitty taste’ when it came to movies, complaining how he didn’t know any of the Kazakh’s choices. So since Yuri didn’t know what would happen next when Otabek paused the video and asked him, he ended up drinking most of what they had. Otabek teased him endlessly, only calling it a night once they finished the last 'crappy’ movie and Yuri was too tired to go back home. Yuri, stubborn as he was, tried to get up and leave, only to slip on a puddle from one of their spilled drinks caused. Otabek tried to catch him, but Yuri pulled him along.
Suddenly, Otabek was staring right into Yuri’s blue green eyes, the teen lying with his back on the ground, while Otabek had his hands on either side of the the blonde’s head. Yuri started to blush when he realized that their faces were just inches apart, his heart thumping at the only thought that was crossing his head: will he kiss me?
When nothing happened and Otabek just continued to stare into his eyes, Yuri decided he wasn’t waiting any longer. He had a major crush on his best friend, so he decided to use his current situation and pulled Otabek closer, their lips connecting. It was over too soon, as Otabek pulled back in surprise, his eyes wide.
“What are you staring at?”, Yuri asked when Otabek still wasn’t moving, so he looked away. He thought that things would get awkward from here on now, but suddenly, Otabek grabbed his chin and forced his face back so that Yuri was looking at him again.
“I’m looking at you,” Otabek whispered and kissed him, soft and sweet.
Yuri melted into the kiss, not caring that his clothes were drenched. The kiss soon became more deep and Yuri groaned as Otabek slipped his tongue in, their tongues dancing together. When both of them had to pull back to breathe, Yuri was grinning at him.
“What’s so funny?”, Otabek asked and Yuri only laughed.
“I’ve always dreamt of kissing you, but I didn’t think you’d return my feelings,” he shrugged.
“Oh Yura. You must be either blind or stupid for not noticing me ogling over your body,” Otabek teased.
“You did WHAT?!”, Yuri exclaimed and lightly punched Otabek when he began laughing.
“You should take a shower and come to bed. It’s late, so I’ll wash your stuff tomorrow,” Otabek smiled and picked Yuri up, carrying him bridal style.
“Hey I can walk myself!”, Yuri exclaimed, his face red.
But somehow he didn’t mind being carried by his friend’s strong arms, feeling warm and secure. He couldn’t believe what just happened and hoped that it wasn’t a dream.

i saw the post you reblogged that had a part regarding ships, including a section tolerating no hate towards ships even ones that are abusive like minor x adult ships like yurio x jj...you don't agree with that right? it's one thing to have a "ship war" over two ships with consenting adults but wanting respect for ships that are toxic and cause harm to minors/csa survivors in the fandom is a whole other story. i'd like to know your thoughts on this before i follow if u don't mind 💙 thank you
I kinda support those ships when they are not put in a sexual contest. I am a little taken aback by this question to be honest, because here in Italy the age of consent is actually 14? So people can have sexual intercourses with someone without it being illegal. So technically, for me it’s normal to think about Yurio whit partners such as Otabek or JJ. They don’t even have that much age gap, so it’s completely fine. Anyway, I respect people that think that it is not fine, and if you choose not to follow my blog because of it you’re totally free to do that. I won’t reblog any nsfw content here, and I highly doubt you’ll see that in my art. I know it’s written in my description, but better safe than sorry lolThank you for letting me share with you my opinion! 💞

I don't get what you mean by the fandom old ship name thing...what would you call them

Back in the ancient days, young one, even before my time, ships were originally named by putting the characters’ names back to back with a backslash separating them (i.e. Kirk/Spock). This was before the dawn of the internet, when fan magazines were the only way to access fanfiction (OH, THE HORROR). The fandom term “slash” was derived from the aforementioned backslash, popularized by the first recognized gay ship, which was in fact, Kirk/Spock (you can check your communications textbooks, I’m not making this up). This was how all ships were distinguished in fan magazines etc. even through the early days of fanfiction.
When fanfiction REALLY started to pick up and gain popularity, helped along greatly by the dawn of the internet, specially devoted webistes, and the Harry Potter generation, ships were shortened to character initials and a backslash (i.e. Harry and Ginny was H/G). Then, fic names started to get creative by coming up with terms that identified the characters (i.e. Remus/Sirius was known as WolfStar). The latter is the kind of naming I was referring to. In fact, a lot of fandoms populated with FandomOld™ shippers, still use this system. For instance, Once Upon a Time seems to use this system (I’m not part of this fandom, but it pops up on my dash every now and again). I believe they use names like SwanQueen and CaptainSwan instead of the name smushing method.
The name smushing method came about in the mid 2000s when celebrities were given smushed couple names and it crossed over the to the fandoms.
Honestly, Victuuri, is the only smushed couple name I’ve ever really loved because it fits the couple, because it sounds like Victory. Whereas other couples would be hilarious using the older method. For instance Chris/Phichit could be IntoxicatedSelfie or JJ/Yurio* could be something like KittenKing.
Note: Now that I feel ancient, I would like to protest that I am not, in fact, that old. But I am still a permanent resident of the FandomOld™ porch.

I Think I'm Falling
Yes, I’m on break but I’m too fucking excited right now. I’ve been kicking around a fic idea since April when a friend mentioned it. I’m finally getting around to it and I’m FUCKING excited!!!
It’s a high school AU featuring songs by The 1975, Bastille, Imagine Dragons, and Marinas Trench.
It’s very song and lyric heavy, but it’ll make sense during the fic. This one is going to be REALLY long.
I wanted to give you guys a sneak peak. Anything in asterisks will be italicizes.
Welcome to AP Biology two. I hope you’re as excited as I am about this course and are willing to work hard. It’s an enlightening class and will open a lot of doors if you put effort into it,” the teacher said, smiling at the class, “I also like my students to work with people they aren’t familiar with, so grab your belongings and stand in the back of the room. I’ve already paired everyone up. When you hear your name, please go to the table with the corresponding number.”
Yuuri picked up his backpack off the floor and hugged it to his chest. He was the youngest in the class since he was in the accelerated program and didn’t know anyone. While he was one of the smartest in school, it often put him at a disadvantage as the others were usually older than him. He recognized a fewer upper classmen but they ignored him. He was used to it though, only speaking with his classmates when he was grouped with them for projects or tutoring sessions.
But when the door opened and *he* walked in, Yuuri wanted the floor to open and swallow him whole.
Yuuri had been infatuated with the grey-haired senior the minute he’d laid eyes on him the year before. He had gaped at him, wondering how such perfection could exist in one person. They’d passed in the hallway occasionally and exchanged civil greetings that would leave Yuuri’s heart racing out of control. But a class with him was beyond a dream come true.
“Smith and Moore, table one.”
Yuuri focused on the floor tile in front of him but caught himself peeking to his right, stealing glances at the boys talking near him. He was so happy he was on the verge of giddiness. Trying to fight the smile threatening to break out, Yuuri paid attention to the teacher and waited for his name to be called. The next time he looked up he thought he was going to melt when he saw the heart-shaped smile. He was beyond gorgeous, bordering on the line of godly.
“Duncan and Roberts,” the teacher said, looking up when he saw three students step forward, “Erica. Table two.”
The crowd in the back thinned as names were called out and the tables filled. Yuuri’s heart was beating in his chest when there were only three tables left and the object of his affection was still standing. His friends had already been called so he was standing next to Yuuri. Yuuri looked up and saw beautiful arctic blue eyes shift to him before the smile appeared again. He was mortified he had been caught and stared at the ground again. He almost had his nerves calmed when he heard his name, but the one called after his paralyzed him.
“Katsuki and Nikiforov, table twelve.”
*No way…*
Yuuri jerked his head up and stared at him. He knew by the grin from the older boy he must have appeared shocked at the turn of events. When a hand was held out in front of him, Yuuri nodded once and clutched his backpack tighter before walking to the table. He sat on the stool and dropped his pack to the floor, gripping the concrete surface to steady himself. He felt a presence in the stool next to him and gulped before he looked at his new lab partner.
“Hi,” he said, giving Yuuri his infamous heart-shaped smile and holding out his hand, “I’m Viktor.”
“I know,” Yuuri said, gripping his hand gingerly and shaking once, “Yuuri.”
“Nice to meet you,” Viktor said, “I’ve seen you around but we’ve never been properly introduced. I’m looking forward to this class. How about you?”
“No, maybe…” Yuuri muttered before meeting Viktor’s gaze, “Yes.”
“Worried about it being too difficult? I’ve heard you’re really smart,” Viktor said, “Jeff and Kyle said they hoped they got you as a lab partner, but looks like I lucked out.”
“Oh,” Yuuri said, his heart dropping to the floor, “Yeah, lucky you.”
Yuuri was used to this feeling though he didn’t want to experience it with Viktor. He had English class with Jeff and Kyle the year before, being teamed up with a couple projects. While they didn’t make him feel taken advantage like most left him, Yuuri still felt like he carried most of the workload. He had hoped it would have been different with Viktor but fate was conspiring against him.
“Why does that sound bad?” Viktor asked, his brows knitting in confusion.
“Just used to the ‘Yay, I’m teamed up with the smart kid’ thing,” Yuuri mumbled.
Yuuri turned his attention to the front of the room and took the stack of papers from the person beside him. He took a packet and passed the rest to Viktor before looking at it. The syllabus was the largest one he’d seen and left him wondering if he had exceeded his academic limits, but the guidance counselor said the class would be perfect for him. He listened to the teacher drone about coursework, their textbook, labs and expectations for the year. He was so absorbed in the lecture he jumped slightly when he felt a tap on his arm. Looking over, he saw Viktor slide a scrap of paper to him. Tilting his head, his spirits soared when he read the message.
*I didn’t luck out because you’re the smartest kid in the class. I did because you’re the nicest. I’d really like for us to become friends. Would you like to get a milkshake after school and talk about class? My treat? Has to be chocolate though.*
Yuuri smiled and scribbled a short note before passing the paper back to Viktor. He listened to the teacher go over the supplies and the fees for the class. When another tap touched his arm, he reached down for the paper and read it.
*Chocolate is my favorite too. Let me know if your mom says it’s ok. Meet you at the fountain outside five minutes after school ends. I hope you can go.*
