Multitasking: Watching The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent while writing a Max Lord fanfiction.
Joel Miller - years of being a Girl Dad to Sarah have made him really good at doing hair. Never gets a chance now because Ellie won't let him. She likes her ponytail.
Max Lord - can't cook and is allergic to cats.
Max Philips - secretly loves musicals. (His fave is Mary Poppins but if you tell anyone he'll legit kill you, don't test him he's a fucking vampire).
Dave York - genuinely enjoys watching Disney movies with his daughters. Cried when Bambi's mum died (don't make fun of him, he's a trained assassin he will shoot you)
Please feel free to comment or reblog, I'd love to hear some of yours!!
Cover image for my latest fanfic. Will be posted over on Ao3 and DarkRealityWrites soon!
So, I caved and I've started writing a Max Lord fic 😂
I'm already working on two original novels, I don't need the extra work, but Max is in my head and he won't shut up.
Headcannon: This is what I imagine Max Lord (aka Maxwell Lorenzano) to look like after the events of Wonder Woman 1984. He's dyed his hair back to brown and allowed a tiny bit of stubble to grow. Still works as some kind of businessman, but he's given up on the oil gig.
Dang it now I need to write a fic. 😂

Summary: Amelia awakens as a newborn vampire, and Max takes her hunting.
Sequel to Anniversary Feast but can be read as a standalone.
Amelia awoke to a darkened room, the curtains drawn to protect her from the sun. Checking the clock beside the bed, she noted that it was nearly three o’clock; she realised she had slept all day.
As she groggily came to her senses, she became aware of a terrible burning sensation in her throat. She put her hand up and rubbed at it, trying to swallow but finding her entire mouth and throat dry. The more aware of it she became, the worse it felt.
The burning spread down to her chest and she felt light-headed for a moment as she threw back the sheets and tried to stand.
It was then that she noticed that Max wasn’t in bed beside her. Stumbling, she left the bedroom and staggered down the hall, searching for him. He was nowhere to be found.
Her eyes burned and she choked out a sob, but no tears came. She wracked her brain, trying to figure out where he might be. Then it hit her. Of course, he was at work.
She grabbed her phone from its charger and dialled the direct line to Max’s office. She was relieved when he answered on the first ring.
“Hey, there,” he purred. “How’s my little fledgeling doing?”
“Max,” she rasped, clutching her throat. “Max, it hurts. I don’t know what’s happening, I think something’s wrong–”
“Whoa, whoa, slow down,” he tried to soothe her. “What’s up?”
“My throat,” she said, weakly. “It burns. It hurts so much, Max. It’s like heartburn, but it’s worse than I’ve ever–”
“Oh,” he said quietly. He sounded guilty. “Oh, shit. Baby, I’m so sorry, I forgot to warn you. The first twenty-four hours after the change are a fucking nightmare. I thought I was gonna lose my mind when it happened to me. But you’re gonna be fine, okay? You just need to feed.”
“Feed?”
“Blood, babe,” he said gently, and she felt like a fool; that should have been obvious. Vampires needed blood to survive.
“Listen, here’s what’s gonna happen,” Max said firmly. “I’m coming home, okay? I’m supposed to work until five, but I’ll tell Ted there’s a family emergency or whatever. I’ll come pick you up and we’ll go out and get some nice juicy hobos or something.”
“Max,” she groaned.
“Okay, sorry, that was a terrible joke, but you’re gonna need to learn how to hunt.”
His words calmed her, although the idea of hunting and killing a human still made her a little uncomfortable. The discomfort was outweighed by the burning pain in her throat and chest, so she resigned herself to the idea. They hung up, and she lay back on the bed waiting for Max to come home.
After what felt like an eternity, she heard his keys in the front door. She heard it open and close, and then the pounding of his hurried footsteps coming down the hall to the bedroom. She sat up when he came in, and he pulled her to her feet and into his arms, holding her close.
“You poor thing,” he said, his voice muffled as he buried his face in her shoulder. “I’m so sorry.”
She let him hold her for a while, enjoying the feeling of his big hands moving up and down her back. He pulled back and kissed her forehead softly.
“I’ll give you a few minutes to get ready and then we’ll head out,” he told her cupping her face in his palms and placing another kiss on the tip of her nose. She nodded and he left. Amelia turned her attention to the wardrobe, deciding on the red dress she had worn the night before. She knew Max loved it, and she hoped it would help lure in her prey.
Max smiled as she emerged from the bedroom, looking her up and down hungrily. He kept control of himself, however, and merely linked his arm through hers as they went out to the car.
Twenty minutes later, they pulled up outside their destination. Amelia was taken aback when she realised where they were.
“Dirty John’s?” she scoffed. “Really, Max? The sleaziest bar in town?”
“If you really think about it, it’s perfect,” he explained with a sly grin. “The types of people that come here are the type that will go home with anyone, and they’re unlikely to have anyone who’ll miss them – at least not for a while. That way we avoid any legal repercussions.”
Amelia had to admit, he had a point. He climbed out of the car and came around to the passenger side, opening the door for her and taking her by the hand, helping her step out onto the curb. She followed his lead, entering the bar, keeping an eye out for anyone who looked appropriate for the task at hand.
The bar was dimly lit, and smelled of cigarettes, alcohol, and strong perfumes.
With a shared glance, they scanned the room for suitable prey. Max’s lips curled into a smile as he nodded toward a lone figure at the corner table. A tall, curvy, red-haired woman, probably in her early thirties.
Amelia studied her for a moment before giving Max a nod of approval. The fact that their intended victim was female didn’t bother Amelia – blood was blood, and that was the important part right now.
Summoning her courage, Amelia decided to take matters into her own hands. She needed to learn how to hunt, after all. With a playful smile, she sauntered over to where the other woman sat, her heart racing with anticipation.
"Mind if I join you?" she asked, her voice light and airy.
The woman looked up, her eyes sparkling with interest.
"Not at all," she replied, gesturing to the empty seat beside her.
As Amelia settled onto the barstool, she couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. She leaned in closer, the scent of the woman’s perfume mingling with her own.
"What brings you here tonight?" she asked, her words laced with curiosity.
The woman shrugged, a smirk playing at the corners of her lips.
"Just looking for a bit of company," she admitted, her gaze never leaving Amelia’s own.
“Well, what a coincidence,” Amelia purred. “That’s exactly why I’m here, too.”
They made small talk for a bit; Amelia wanted to lull the other girl into a sense of safety and security before she made her move. She learned that the woman’s name was Tina, and that she had recently gotten out of a relationship and was just looking for something more casual. When she felt the time was right, Amelia extended the offer.
“Want to come back to my place?” she asked. Tina’s eyes lit up and she agreed. As they stood up, Tina swayed a little bit – she had obviously had more than a few drinks. Amelia wondered how this would play out – could she get drunk herself if there was alcohol in the victim’s blood?
The burning in her chest told her it would be worth it. Linking her arm through Tina’s, she led her toward the exit. Max emerged from the crowd to join them.
“Tina, this is my boyfriend, Max,” Amelia explained, hoping that introducing a third party wouldn’t put Tina off and foil the plan. “You don’t mind if he joins us, do you?”
Tina’s eyes took on a vague look, although Amelia could tell it wasn’t from the alcohol. She knew it was Max’s doing. He was using his compulsion powers. Amelia bit her lip, waiting for Tina’s response.
“Sure,” Tina replied with a smile, although it didn’t reach her still-vacant eyes. “I’ve never had a threesome before.”
Max chuckled and led the way out to his car. Tina climbed into the backseat. Max’s compulsion powers remained in effect as they drove home – Amelia was impressed by how much control he had.
Max glanced over and smiled proudly at her, silently telling her she had done well on her first hunt.
Soon they were home; Amelia almost cried with relief, as the burning in her throat was becoming too much to bear.
Max led the way to the bedroom, with Tina behind him and Amelia bringing up the rear. Max flopped down onto the bed, kicking off his shoes.
“Well, no time like the present,” he said. “Let’s get started, shall we?”
It all happened rather quickly, although for Amelia everything seemed to move in slow motion. In a second Max had pulled her dress off over her head, leaving her in just her bra and underwear. She unbuttoned his shirt, slowly, resisting the urge to simply tear it off him. She moved around behind him and began kissing the back of his neck and his broad shoulders, while he focussed on relieving Tina of the black minidress she was wearing. The three of them, clad only in their underwear now, fell onto the bed in a tangle of limbs. Heat surged through Amelia’s veins as she let Max run his tongue along her neck, and then he began to nibble at the spot where he had bitten her.
She wrapped her arms around his broad frame and clawed her fingers through his hair, letting him kiss all the way down her still-burning throat to the tops of her breasts. He then switched his focus to Tina, giving her the same attention.
Tina whimpered as he worked on her, bringing her close to the edge of ecstasy before allowing Amelia to take over.
“Ready?” he said in a whisper low enough that only Amelia’s new keen sense of hearing could detect. She nodded, letting her fangs extend. Max held Tina’s head to the side a little, disguising his real intentions by pressing his lips to hers in a sensual kiss.
Amelia took a steadying breath, then made her move.
Her fangs easily punctured the soft flesh of Tina’s throat, just over her jugular vein. Tina moaned softly at the brief sting, which Amelia knew from experience would quickly turn to euphoria. The blood came easily, trickling down Tina’s neck a bit before Amelia lapped it up. She drank deeply, the warm liquid washing over her tongue and beginning to soothe the burning in her throat almost immediately. It tasted better than she had expected, rich and slightly tangy.
She gulped it hungrily, only stopping when the flow died down to a trickle. Tina’s heart had slowed to a dangerously low rate. Amelia could feel Max watching her, approval and pride radiating from him. Tina’s heart gave two final beats before it fell silent, her body going limp.
“Feel better, sweetheart?” Max asked. Amelia took a moment to confirm that the burning had finally stopped. She smiled and nodded.
Max chuckled and reached out to wipe some blood from the corner of her lips, sucking it from his thumb with a grin. Then, he glanced down at Tina’s body which lay motionless on the bed between them. He stood up and padded over to the wardrobe, taking a bedsheet down from the linen shelf at the top. He moved the body down onto the floor, wrapping it in the sheet.
Amelia glanced down at it, feeling a hint of worry growing in the pit of her stomach.
“What do we do with–?”
“I’ll deal with it later,” Max assured her with a smile, stretching out on the bed and lying back against the pillows. “I’m not done with you, yet. Come here.”
Amelia obeyed, crawling across the bed and on top of him, straddling his lower stomach. She leaned down, letting him pull her to him and press their lips together in a deep, passionate kiss that she wanted to last forever.
