The Butcherbird strikes again! These hunter birds are fascinating to me. South Texas is a major flyway for a number of northern birds. Most Loggerhead Strike spend the summer in the far North nesting and growing strong for their Autumn voyage south to Texas. This bird is still here or already here. I've not seen it but here is the evidence. 8/9/19

Responsive Morphologies [GH3D]

This quite common species is present in most of Europe. Egyptian Grasshopper (Anacridium aegyptium) is one of the largest European grasshoppers. This grasshopper was discovered and photographed on May 28, 2021, in Herdade das Templárias (Abrantes, Portugal).

I met a beautiful grasshopper, he let me get very close to him and I managed to take such photos) he is so cute!

In this recent test, the Grasshopper vertically took-off, ascended to about 12 stories, hovered for few seconds and then deliberately landed back down.

And of course, it's indeed meant to go much, much higher (to space) but progress is progress.

Pink gropper

Have you ever seen a pink grasshopper? Though the meadow grasshopper (Chorthippus parallelus) is typically distinguished by its green and brown coloration, a genetic mutation called erythrism leaves some individuals looking pretty in pink! Erythrism is the overproduction of red pigment. While these rare insects are beautiful to look at, pink grasshoppers are hindered by their vivid coloring because it makes hiding from predators much more difficult.
