i die a little bit inside when i realise they never do this again
Sorry for how long and disorganised this is! I just felt a random urge to write about these two and so I did. Enjoy!
* Warning: some NSFW content *
- Daichi cannot cook for the LIFE OF HIM and burns things to a crisp if he doesn’t set them on fire when he tries. Because of this, Suga doesn’t let Daichi anywhere near the kitchen
- Because of how stressed out and in his head Suga can get, Daichi once suggested they try going to a yoga class together. His plan worked but for the wrong reason, as Suga started feeling better once he saw how inflexible Daichi was, rather than the actual class relaxing him. Although Daichi hated hearing Suga laugh his ass off at him in front of a bunch of strangers, he felt it was worth it since Suga was smiling again
- Daichi can be very dense when it comes to people flirting with him because someone will be doing just that and he just thinks they’re being nice. This is why it took him so long to realize Suga was into him. However, he recognises it a bit better when it happens to Suga, and it makes him uncomfortable
- Suga is a very jealous person and will grab Daichi’s hand or hold his arm any time he feels someone is getting too chummy with his man, but others flirting with Daichi ultimately makes him horny. He finds it more amusing than anything when people flirt with him
- Suga usually stays shirtless in the change room for a while to cool down from practice, and knowing how much Daichi likes the view, he uses it to tease him
- Any time they go grocery shopping together, Daichi ALWAYS has to grab a bag of sugar and cover the “r” with his thumb. He dies laughing every time and Suga is less than impressed
- Whenever they go out for dinner, Suga orders for both of them because Daichi can never make up his mind on what he wants
- Daichi is very dominant and aggressive in bed so Suga has to lie about being a klutz from how much he limps the next day
- Everyday, Daichi makes a point to tell Suga one thing he loves/appreciates about him to remind Suga that even if he isn’t the setter anymore, he is still Daichi’s favourite and therefore the best. He also makes Suga wear his jersey to show him that he’s his “number 1″. Suga tells him he’s being ridiculous but he’s actually so happy
- When Suga is upset but doesn’t want to talk about it, he lays his head on Daichi’s thighs (because he’s a slut for those thighs) and Daichi will lovingly stroke his head. When Daichi is upset and doesn’t want to talk about it, he’ll make Suga sit in his lap so he can just hold him
- They are both emotional eaters
- When they finally got together, Asahi and Kiyoko were much more relieved than they were because they always had to deal with them ranting about each other and now it’s finally over
- They both have issues with the other driving because Suga has really bad road rage and will kill a man if provoked, and Daichi can only drive listening to fast-paced music which leads him to speed. If they can’t decide who should drive, they’ll either drive separately or get Asahi to drive them
- On a much less innocent note, neither of them have an issue with the other’s back seats and use them on the regular
- Suga is closer to Asahi; Daichi is closer to Kiyoko
- When Daichi finally confessed his feelings, Suga laughed it off and carried on like it was nothing because he genuinely didn’t think that Daichi could ever be into him. Daichi, not understanding that, got really upset and avoided Suga whenever he could for four days. The issue was only cleared up when Suga overheard Daichi and Kiyoko talking about it and he finally explained everything
- Suga is super supportive of Daichi and will attack the man if he ever doubts his abilities or his worth.
- Daichi gives Suga pep talks whenever Suga is stressed about something coming up, solely out of habit from being the captain. Suga thinks it’s cute and funny, whereas Daichi doesn’t realize that’s what he’s doing
- Without realizing it, they both fell in love with each other when the other was acting like a parent to the first and/or second years
- They go on study dates a lot because neither of them will study alone
- Once Daichi gets a job like working in a fast-food place or something, Suga will go to one of Daichi’s coworkers to order that “sexy brunette flipping the fries”. To get payback for this, Daichi will go to Suga’s work and ask if his “number and a date” are on the menu
- They act very mature and modest around others and often talk about how a healthy relationship is built off of trust and communication rather than sex, which they genuinely believe, but their hands and mouths are all over each other once they are alone
That’s it for now! Feel free to reblog/comment to add onto this :D

Being in the snow with Sugawara brightens the day to a warmth in your body. Walking around the landscapes, taking picture of it and suga, playing in the snow with snowballs and doing angels in the snow. It brings your inner kid to have the time it needs. Suga's red cheeks come up in the snowy white aroundings. It's such a beautiful day and he makes the winter to your favorite season.

Summary: At the Shiratorizawa vs Karasuno game, it breaks your heart to see Sugawara get so excited by Kiyoko’s touch. After a long day of the silent treatment, your boyfriend must show you just how much more you affect him than any other girl around.
A/N: Honestly, this ended up better than I thought. Sorry it took me a while, and I’m not gonna lie, the other requests are probably gonna take just as long. My life is just a little sucky right now, so please have some patience. Still, hope you like it!
Word count: 2923
Sugawara and Kiyoko were close-- they were friends, after all. But seeing him blush after she held his hands during a volleyball game was too much.
The sight of it made your stomach churn. His face was completely red as he jerked his hands away with a shout before bobbing and weaving the others.
“It’s mine! Get your own!”
You could hear him from all the way in the stands, and there was no way the cameras hadn’t caught some of it.
The game against Shiratorizawa was possibly your boyfriend’s last game ever, and he had begged and begged you to come and watch. Of course, you had agreed without much coaxing, but now, all you wanted to do was go home.
Deep in your chest, your heart twinged. When was the last time Sugwara had ever been so aggressive over your touch like that? You couldn’t remember. Part of you felt alienated the instant it happened.
They’re just friends.
Kiyoko’s not the kind of girl to do that.
Koushi would never hurt me like that.
I’m not jealous. I’m not jealous. I’m not…
Was there really a point in lying to yourself? No, the answer is no.
The bitter taste of betrayal slapped you in the face the moment Sugawara had fought so hard to hide Kiyoko’s contact from another’s touch. Maybe your touch just wasn’t as precious to him.
Maybe… maybe Sugawara actually wanted Kiyoko. It wouldn’t be the first time someone had found her more attractive over you. The girl could wear shoes made of dog dookie and boys would still kiss the floor beneath her feet.
But your sweet, loyal boyfriend was the last person you ever expected to jump on that bandwagon when he was in a relationship.
It hurt. Plain and simple. Your heart clenched and your stomach tightened and all you wanted was space, space, space.
So when Sugawara jogged onto the court for the fifth and final set of what could’ve been his last game, he glanced into the stands with an excited grin to see… no one.
“Where’s YN?”
~~~
The next day at school was hard, but ignoring Sugawara was even harder. Though he wasn’t in your class as you were only a second year, it seemed like he was everywhere, all at once.
Every corner you turned, he was there. Each class you passed, he was inside, asking a question you already knew the answer to.
I’m right here, I just don’t want you to see me.
A majority of it was just pure pettiness, but the last little inkling was fear. After avoiding him for so long, you still weren’t sure you could keep it together once he finally caught up to you.
Last night, your phone was blown up with texts, every one of them inquisitive.
“Did you hear we won our game?”
“Where did you go?”
“Are you gonna answer me?”
“Did something happen?”
“Are you okay?”
You didn’t answer a single one of them, instead choosing the age-old tradition of a silent treatment.
Lunch was the hardest. You always ate with Sugawara out in the courtyard under your favorite tree. Your back would rest against his chest and you would feed him part of your lunch, him always returning the favor.
So you couldn’t help but feel a little guilty while you nibbled on a chip, watching from your desk in a classroom on the second level of the school as Sugawara bolted out into the courtyard. His gray head of hair hung low as he made his way back inside the second he noticed you weren’t there. He shoved his hands into his pockets and lowered his gaze, observing his shoes as he scuffed them with every step.
You weren’t an evil bitch-- why would seeing him like that not hurt you? It was just… you couldn’t forget his look of pure awe as Kiyoko touched him, like he had just been blessed by a goddess.
You knew you were nothing special. No matter how many times Sugawara told you that was wrong, you just knew it. But a part of you still wanted to believe that Sugawara had meant what he said all those times.
~~~
“YN, open up!”
A fist pounded on your door with hefty conviction. It hadn’t backed down for the past twenty minutes, and honestly, it seemed like it never would.
“I know you’re home, YN! Please, just answer the door!”
With parents still at work, you were all alone at the house. There were no school projects or assignments, no homework or work-work; it was one of those few days in a year you would use to go to your boyfriend’s house and “study.”
“I’m not leaving until you let me in, YN!”
After ignoring him all day at school, you knew you wouldn’t be off the hook for long. Sugawara always worried about you like this. There wasn’t a day gone by that you two hadn’t at least contacted each other via phone, so there was no doubt he knew something was up.
But you stayed put on the living room couch, wrapped up in a blanket and hugging yourself while trying to convince yourself the tears were just allergies.
“YN!”
There was a saddened whine in his voice, like a hint of desperation.
You wondered if he was hurting like you. Would he be as jealous if you acted that way with somebody else? Would it pain him to see you blush and value another boy’s touch? Would he even care?
Or were you just being childish?
In every relationship lies one secret insecurity. One person’s more attractive, another’s skinnier, another’s taller. Another may be smarter or another may have a more stable life. There’s always a possible hamartia. And yours?
Sugawara was older than you.
He never treated you like a child, though he had that habit. His friend group was all older, and yours, of course, was younger.
It was only a year, but in high school, that made all the difference. Girls his age, in his class, always spending time around him were bound to go after him at some point. At least, that’s what you always assumed. You’ve never told Sugawara any of it-- of your fears that there was another girl who he talked to that one day might just peel him right from your grasp-- you didn’t want him to think you were being childishly insecure.
And so, seeing Sugawara with Kiyoko made your volcano of unease erupt.
“YN, please!”
But you didn’t want to lose him. God, you really didn’t want to let him go. He was kind and loving and made you feel things you’d never felt before.
“Hey.”
So you slithered out of your nest of blankets and opened the door.
In a word, he looked disheveled. His hair stuck up in every which way, unkempt tufts barely catching the light of your porch. His hand, still frozen in the air to keep knocking, shook in place. But what most rattled you to your core was his face.
He looked… scared. If you didn’t know any better, you might’ve thought a murderer was after him. The cold of what was eight p.m. in March had bitten his cheeks and nose to a nice pink color. Angry lines framed worried, hazel eyes that widened at the sight of you. Or more, the tear streaks you had failed to hide.
“YN,” he sounded winded, “what happened?”
Now. Right now was the moment you had been dreading. Unloading all of your personal insecurities onto another person was quite possibly the hardest thing to do, mostly because you knew nothing could be done about it.
“I…” The words were trapped, caught in your throat in a nasty combination of crap you could only hack up in the form of a sob. “I, um.” And that’s all you could say.
For a solid two minutes, Sugawara waited patiently for nothing. His brows rose in a gesture of take your time, but after seeing your lips stay zipped instead of opening and closing with the possibility of words, he must’ve gotten the hint.
He nodded then pursed his lips. “Okay then. Why don’t we… well, come with me. I want to show you something.”
Without another word, he snagged your hand and tugged you out of your house before closing the door.
“Maybe you can tell me what’s up once we’re there.”
~~~
The drive wasn’t long, but by the time it was over, Sugawara’s headlights and the moon were the only lights around.
The local park sign greeted you once he helped you out of his car, closing the door for you before grabbing your hand and leading you away.
You were surprised at how warm his fingers were when they intertwined with your own, flexing against yours out of habit while Sugawara tugged you around.
“There,” he muttered under his breath, leading you right to the thickest oak tree around. The trees were few and far between in the clearing where you two settled, and just barely in the distance could you see the plastic playground of the city.
“Come on.” After taking a seat against the rough trunk, he pulled you down into his lap with a soft smile. Like always, your back leaned into his front, which worked as a heater in the slight breeze of the night. His hands wound around your waist and hugged you flush against him with not even an inch to spare. Both of your guys' legs lay straight out, his just outside your own but pushing them close enough together that one almost sat on top of the other.
Instinctively, your hands relaxed down onto his thighs, and you finally let yourself relax back into his form.
The silence was nice and peaceful. For a moment, you forgot why he had even brought you there. When you truly let go and wound your arms up behind Sugawara’s neck, he decided to break it.
“So… do you want to talk about it?”
Not really, but you knew you had to. Tonight, you just wanted this undisturbed moment with him. You just wanted to listen to the trees rustle and the crickets chirp, all with him by your side. But you knew that if you wanted more moments like this, you had to start talking.
“Koushi,” you sighed and shook your head, “yesterday, at… at the game, right?”
“Yeah?”
“You and Kiyoko got really, um, really close.” You could feel him suck in a breath, but he let it out slowly before humming for you to continue.
“I think I see where this is going.”
You weren’t sure what to make of that response, so you kept speaking. “You held hands and-- God, I feel so stupid, but it made me kind of… jealous.”
“And that’s why you ignored me all day?”
Out loud, it sounded ridiculous-- ridiculous and foolish. So why did the memory of them still hurt?
“Yeah. Basically.”
You wanted to say more. You wanted to explode and confess, just let loose of all the feelings you’ve kept rammed up for months of being with him, but you just didn’t want to run the risk of losing him.
You loved him. At least, you think you did. It’s only been so many months, but when he wasn’t around, you missed him, and when he was around, your heart raced with excitement. Seeing him with Kiyoko almost made it look like things were one-sided.
“Kiyoko and I are just friends.”
A log broke away from the dam in your chest, increasing your need to let loose.
“Yeah, I know.” Your voice was tight, and there was no chance Sugawara hadn’t heard it. His fingers started dancing along your stomach, slipping up your shirt only so far as the skin below your belly button before splaying along the hot flesh.
“YN, I know you’re still not telling me something. Please, you can talk to me. I’m your boyfriend, and I’m here for you.”
The level of comfort those words held, Sugawara had no idea. Your heart fluttered at just their meaning. Someone was there for you, and they wanted to listen.
So you spoke.
“I just,” you didn’t know why, but your eyes began to burn with tears, “I know I’m not that girl, you know? The one that everybody would love to talk to and stops and stares at. The one that people would kill to touch or smell or something. And I know that’s weird or selfish, but God, I just hated seeing you with a girl like that.”
“YN-”
“Kiyoko’s perfect,” you continued, throat constricting the more you choked out. “I know that. Everyone loves her and wants her, but…” The first salty trail paved its way down your cheek. “Koushi, I want to be that girl sometimes. It’s gonna sound vain, but I really wanted to be that girl to you. But maybe I needed to be knocked down a peg like that.”
“YN!” His voice rose and cracked, and his forehead dropped to your shoulder. “Please, please don’t think those things about yourself. Please.” With an open-mouthed kiss to your neck, he shook his head. “I don’t want the girl I love thinking these things. I want you to be happy. I want to make you happy. You must not see it, but you’re that girl to me all the time.”
Another kiss, this one sloppier as he bit back his own tears.
“Koushi-”
“I hate making a fool of myself in front of you.” Kiss. “I hate how I still feel like a little schoolboy whenever I see you.” Kiss. “Fuck, I mean, my hands shake and my heart flutters and I just know my damn palms are sweating but I still want to hold you.” Kiss. “And YN, when I hold you, I can’t even think straight.” His entire back has curled in over your form like a shield. “My heart just pounds like crazy and I feel so stupid because I keep thinking that we’ve been together for so long and I still get so excited to see you, like a damn toddler on Christmas.”
The two hands under your shirt travel to your sides so Sugawara can turn you in his lap until you’re facing him head on. Then they peel away and cup your face, fingers stroking the skin while Sugawara stares at you with what could only be described as pure love in his eyes.
Just the sight of it robs the air from your chest. Breathless couldn’t describe it, but a rush of elation could. Your stomach twinged with excitement as you swallowed up the unfiltered allegiance Sugawara was swearing to you with his soft, hazel eyes.
“YN, I can’t believe you thought anybody else could make me feel something more than you.” A thumb brushes over your lips while he shakes his head. “You must be blind.”
When your hands reach up to tangle into his hair, he only allows one of them to complete the trip. The other, meanwhile, is caught by the wrist. Sugawara leads your hand to his chest, pressing your palm flat against the space hiding his heart.
“Can you feel it?” You do. His heart is pounding, much like your own. The speed and force of each thump under your palm has you leaning your cheek into his other hand. “There’s that smile I love so much.” His thumb runs over your upturned lips once more, and you can’t help but blush.
“Koushi.”
“Hmm?” His eyes are still locked on your lips, but they slam shut once you pull him into a kiss. A moan escapes his throat at the feeling. It’s passionate and thankful and loving. It washes your worries away and has you confront the warm, soft truth: you’re in love with him, and that’s what matters. You’re urged to separate only for a truly desperate need of air, and even then the distance between you barely grows.
His hot breath warms your cheeks as he dips his forehead against yours, dropping his hands to wrap your legs around his waist. Fingers massage the flesh of your thighs as he keeps his eyes closed, lips searching for yours once again only to be stopped by a giggle. His eyes flash open at the sound, crinkling at the corners when his mouth curls into a confused smile.
“What?”
“Nothing, nothing.” In all honesty, you feel like you're on cloud nine, riding a wave of pure bliss. “It’s just…” your hand pats against his chest, rumpling the white t-shirt he’s wearing. “Your heart’s beating really fast. Maybe we should take a little break.”
Sugawara chuckles and leans back against the tree, ducking your face into the crook between his neck and his shoulder with a hand in your hair.
“Trust me, princess. When you’re nearby, it always beats this fast.”
Summary: He was right. You should've brought a jacket before trekking outside on a rainy day. You just wish he would say he was right.
A/N: Should I start watching Avatar: The Last Airbender? Anyways, here’s a lil imagine I got an idea for from this prompt by @otpdisaster. Hope y’all like it!
Word count: 1684
You made a mistake.
“YN, wear a jacket before you go out!”
“I’ll be fine, babe.”
You were wrong. Rain seeped through your clothes quicker than you thought possible. All it was supposed to be was a quick run to the store. The day was sunny and the sidewalk could blister bare feet when you had left. Sugawara had repeatedly warned you about the day’s weather report, but you were certain you could beat it out. If only you had listened.
The short-sleeve t-shirt you wore was absolutely soaked, along with your flimsy black leggings. The tag on your tennis shoes had claimed they were waterproof when you had first bought them; apparently that was wrong. Puddles splashed and your socks squelched with every step you took, and all you could do was feel sorry for yourself. Every few seconds you twitched with an involuntary shiver as you made your way home.
Thunder rumbled overhead as the day came to a close. It was around seven at night, and although your boyfriend was sweet, no one could resist the smugness of your situation. He was right. With chattering teeth, you stumbled up the steps to his house, halting only to take a deep breath at his door.
Yeah, that’s right, you were nervous. No shame in that…. Never mind, all shame in that. You were never one to back down, even when you knew you were in the wrong, and right now, you were really in the wrong. Fist raised over the door, you couldn’t help but just stand there, biting your trembling bottom lip and sniffling occasionally. This is gonna be so embarrassing.
Knock knock.
Movements inside the house are audible from your placement in front of the door, and you suck in a breath when the lock clicks. As soon as the man on the other side spots you, the entryway whips open in the blink of an eye.
“YN,” Sugawara breathes out, but you hold up a hand to stop him from continuing.
“I know what you’re gonna say,” you exclaim before avoiding his intense gaze, “but- oof.”
Air puffs out of your lips in a visible cloud as he tackles you in a bear hug. The drastic change in temperature compels you to sigh, and you tuck your red-tipped nose into his collarbone.
“God, you’re freezing, YN!” With one final squeeze, Sugawara pulls away and tugs you inside, sealing away the glacial climate with a slam of the door. He drops his hands on your trembling shoulders and ushers you to his living room, plopping you down on his couch before exiting without another word.
You, on the other hand, were frozen in surprise. All you could do was sit blindsided on the suede cushions, arms laying limply by your sides as your shoes oozed rainwater on the redwood floors. The TV across from you lit up your face with your favorite series, all ready to be watched. It was, after all, date night.
Footfalls patter back into the room before Sugawara stands before you, holding out a pile of clothes. “Here,” he helps you up off the couch and leads you down a dim hallway, “you need to change before you catch a cold. I just hope you don’t already have one.” You arrive at your destination, his bedroom, where he passes you the dry clothing with furrowed brows. “I’ll be in the kitchen, so just holler if you need something.”
And with that, he leaves you to change in the comfort of your own privacy. Throughout all of this, the only thing you could do was watch with wide eyes at his actions.
You knew your boyfriend, but you also knew basic human instinct. Why is he not rubbing this in my face? You were baffled at his self-control, at his ability to resist the urge to stick it to you.
Like seriously, come on! What kind of person doesn’t say “I told you so” after something like this?
“God, he’s too perfect.” You shake your head and pick through the outfit he gave you. A large, baggy sweatshirt and black sweatpants. Both types of clothing that you often steal from him on a weekly basis. Your heart stutters at the selection, and you laugh softly at his observational skills. “Who the hell am I dating?”
Damp hair, pruned fingers, and trembling muscles. You were quite the sight to behold, and you actively avoided the mirror on your wall. Slipping on the new, soft clothes, you let out a relieved breath at the shift in sensations. You reveled in the oversized fabrics with ease, flapping the too-long sleeves and cinching the sweatpants’ strings until they no longer sagged below your hips.
Still wary of his surprising affection, you hesitantly creep out into the hallway, leaving your damp clothes behind in his laundry basket. You would grab them before you left. On your way to the living room, you pass the kitchen and find Sugawara still inside, rinsing out a pot in the sink. Two mugs rest on the marble counter, steaming and teeming with white marshmallows. The scent of rich chocolate hangs in the air, and you don’t hesitate to join him in the room.
Winding your goosebump-covered arms around his slim waist, you embrace him from behind and hum gently. “I hope some of that’s for me.”
“Of course, baby,” he chuckles, grabbing the hot chocolates before trailing you over to the living room. It’s darker than before, and your show still waits on the large screen, paused just at a recap of the previous episode. Sugawara lays them down on the coffee table before turning in your arms, returning the hug and rubbing your back comfortingly.
“You still feel cold,” he places a hand on your forehead and tsks. “Let me go get some blankets. Stay here, I’ll be right back.” He forces you down on the couch once again and steps away to search in his hall closet.
Every action he does leaves your heart thumping, even though you’ve been dating for a little over a year. He was still so sweet, and you still struggle to comprehend how you managed to catch a guy like him.
“Whatcha smiling about?” Sugawara smirks at you, dropping a pile of blankets on your lap the size of Mount Everest.
“You,” you reply honestly, almost purring when he wraps the thick comforters around your shoulders tightly. After every single one is draped around you, your boyfriend only grins in response, dropping down onto the couch beside you and winding an arm around your waist.
He hands you your scalding mug before grabbing his own, and you allow your frost-bitten fingers to pat the burning porcelain carefully. While taking ginger, intermittent sips, you both bask in each other's presence and enjoy the television entertainment.
An hour passes, and you both have moved to lie back against the couch. Your light-haired boyfriend rests underneath you while you sprawl out on his chest, greedily accepting any warmth he has to offer. One hand rests on your hip while the other brushes through your hair tenderly, and both of your own lose feeling underneath his form, but you don’t have the energy to move them.
The only sounds in the room are your level inhales and exhales and the show quietly droning on in the background as you embrace each other. Your eyes are barely staying open, but in a split second, a tickle hits you.
“Achoo!”
Aw crap.
Sugawara cracks up lightly underneath you and squeezes your hip. “Bless you.”
The kind gesture brings up all your past grievances of the day. He was just… so nice! Why?! That’s all he had to say? Nothing like “I knew you were gonna get sick.”
His politeness made you huff and roll your eyes. Plopping your chin on his chest, you flick his forehead to get him to face you. His head turns to you, and his warm, chocolate-colored eyes are filled with an indescribable warmth that just makes you ughhhh.
“Why?” you pipe up suddenly, dropping your hand to draw random patterns on his cheek. His face tinges pink at the feeling, but his brows furrow at your question.
“Why what?” You sigh.
“Why are you being so nice about this?” You poke his skin frustratedly, but not enough to hurt him. You could never. Not with those puppy dog eyes. “I didn’t listen to you, or your warnings, and now I might be sick. And all you’ve done is make me hot chocolate and cuddle me!”
Sugawara exhales a chuckle at your question and shakes his head amusedly. “Well, what did you think I was gonna do?”
“I thought you were gonna say ‘I told you so’ and then do all this stuff.”
“I’m not evil, YN.”
“I know,” you facepalm, “but the fact that you haven’t said it is kinda creeping me out. It’s like one of those things that humans always do.” Your boyfriend nibbles at his lower lip thoughtfully.
“So, you really want me to say it?”
“Yes please, I would feel much better if you did.” He snorts at this, stroking your silky strands slower now.
“All right,” he murmurs, nodding his head, “here it goes: I told you so.”
Accepting his words, you mumble a small thank you and allow the room to return to fall into silence. All is well, and the atmosphere grows peaceful once more as your cuddling resumes. Sugawara’s eyes close happily and he smiles into your hair, enjoying the fruity scent it emanates. You snuggle deeper into his solid chest, savoring the warmth he exudes and nuzzling your cheek against him lovingly before scoffing.
“God, I knew you were gonna say that.”
Well just decided to share the inspos for the cats. Check em out!!
When Asahi got his driver licence Dachi and Suga started annoying him to drive them everywhere. He was basically their designated driver. It was fine by him, it was actually pretty fun to just chill with his friends and listen to music on the road. What wasn't fun was the first and second years finding out he can drive and then creating absolute chaos in his car. They would leave the most random shit in the backshit, jum around, and put the loudest music while he drove. Shit really hit the fan when Tanaka decided he wanted to learn how to drive and SOMEHOW convinced Asahi to let him practice in his car with him (his sister wouldnt let him)(somehow that didnt alarm Asahi). They almost crashed on a mailbox
Asahi, Tanaka and Noya had to endure the most aggravating, hair ripping,unbearable slow-burn between Suga and Daichi before those two started dating. I'm talking Daichi getting jealous when Suga flirted or god forbid dated someone and snapping at everyone, Suga being the most oblivious little shit,EVERYONE being able to tell those two were into each other EXCEPT THEM,whenever they got out to drink without the one the other would just get drunk and whine, the sexual tension between them being suffocating everyday at practice, Tanaka, Asahi and Noya were TIRED. So when after about 4 months they saw the weird tension and homoeroticism going on between Hinata and Kageyam they were NOT HAVING so one day they "accidently" forgot the keys and locked them in the closet where they keep the volleyball balls and just stood eavesdropping behind the door until they heard a confession or some kissing and only then did they let those two out.
The door creaked open before you could even lift your head from the couch.
"Hey, you should be resting," came Sugawara’s voice—soft, teasing, but edged with concern. The sound of it washed over you like a balm, even as your body rebelled against every small movement.
You grunted in response, curling deeper into the fortress of blankets you'd made for yourself. Every inch of your body ached with a dull, persistent throb. Your head pounded in time with your heartbeat, and your stomach twisted and cramped unpleasantly, making you feel heavy and brittle all at once.
Koushi set the grocery bag down with a soft thud, the rustling of plastic filling the room as he moved around. You cracked one eye open to find him methodically unpacking supplies: herbal teas, a box of your favorite crackers, a heating pad, a fresh bottle of painkillers, and—to your complete and utter dismay—a small bouquet of daisies.
“You didn’t have to,” you croaked, voice hoarse.
He shot you a look over his shoulder, eyebrow arched in a way that immediately made you feel silly for even suggesting it. “You’re right,” he said lightly, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. “I didn’t have to. I wanted to.”
You huffed, burrowing deeper into the blanket, trying—and failing—to hide the way your face flushed. Whether it was from embarrassment or overwhelming gratitude, you weren’t sure.
Sugawara padded over, kneeling down so you were eye-level. His hand, warm and slightly calloused from years of volleyball, brushed against your forehead. Gentle, steady.
“Still warm,” he murmured, his brows knitting together in a tiny frown. “Poor thing.”
You cracked a weak smile, the motion tugging at the ache in your temples. “I’m fine, really,” you mumbled.
“Mmhmm,” he hummed, clearly not believing a word of it.
Without asking, he cracked open one of the heat packs, giving it a firm shake until it warmed to life. He slipped it under the blanket, pressing it against your lower abdomen with slow, careful movements. A soft, involuntary sigh slipped past your lips as the warmth seeped into your cramping muscles.
He smiled at that, eyes crinkling in that boyish, heart-melting way he had.
“There’s my girl,” he said, so quietly you almost didn’t catch it over the gentle thrum of the rain starting outside.
Sugawara busied himself preparing tea—the comforting clatter of the kettle, the soft clink of a spoon stirring honey into a mug—all while stealing glances at you every few moments. Watching. Making sure you didn’t strain yourself.
When he returned, he slid onto the couch beside you, coaxing you upright just enough to press the steaming mug into your hands.
“Easy,” he murmured, one hand steadying the cup with you. “Small sips.”
You obeyed, too tired to argue, the warmth from the tea and his touch making the ache behind your eyes begin to loosen.
Once the tea was safely set aside on the coffee table, he didn’t retreat back to his corner. Instead, he carefully pulled you into his arms, arranging you across his lap with an ease that made your heart ache. His hands found your lower back almost immediately, working slow, tender circles into the tense muscles there.
The world outside faded. The rain against the windows softened into a background hum. Your muscles remained sore, but the sharp edges of your pain dulled—replaced by the steady, grounding beat of Koushi’s heart against your ear, the rise and fall of his breathing, the feeling of being wrapped up in something—someone—solid and sure.
Your hands tightened weakly in the fabric of his shirt, clinging to him like a lifeline.
“Thank you,” you whispered back, voice cracking from the weight of everything you were too tired to say properly.
He only squeezed you tighter, thumb stroking lazy, soothing patterns across your hip.
“Always,” he murmured.
And as your eyes fluttered closed, your body giving in to the exhaustion at last, you realized: with Koushi here, you could finally let yourself rest.
Truly, completely, safely rest.
Practice was in full swing.
The gym pulsed with life—shoes squeaking, volleyballs echoing like thunder against arms, and shouts bouncing between walls and bodies. Every member of Karasuno was locked into their rhythm, sweaty and determined, moving like cogs in one beautifully chaotic machine. Even Tsukishima and Kageyama hadn’t snapped at each other in a full ten minutes. A miracle.
You stood just off-court, your well-worn notebook tucked under your arm, scribbling quick notes with your favorite pencil. It was smudged with graphite and bite marks from weeks of you chewing the eraser, but it had personality. The court rotations were finally clicking, and Daichi had asked you to track when fatigue set in for Hinata.
Yachi stood a few feet away, stopwatch in hand, glancing nervously between you and the court like she could already feel a storm brewing. You didn't blame her. You'd been with this team long enough to sense disaster. And it was always when things were going too well.
On the court, Kageyama and Hinata were locked in a rally that looked more like a battle. Kageyama’s sets were razor sharp, and Hinata—well, Hinata was grinning like someone had just given him permission to fly.
You looked down to scribble a quick note when your pencil slipped through your fingers.
It bounced once against your shoe, then rolled straight onto the court.
“Seriously?” you muttered, bending to grab it.
One foot stepped just slightly over the line. Just enough.
And from across the gym, like the harbinger of doom:
“Kageyama! Toss me something crazy!”
You looked up.
Hinata was airborne. Silhouetted in the gym lights. Hair tousled, arm cocked back, grinning like a man possessed.
Oh shit—
CRACK.
The volleyball connected square with your face before you could flinch. Pain exploded behind your eyes. Your feet left the floor—literally. Your notebook flung into the air like a paper bird.
You hit the ground with a full-bodied thud. Hard.
Silence followed. Absolute and deafening.
Then—
“OH MY GOD I’M SO SORRY!” Hinata shrieked, rooted in place like he'd just committed an unforgivable sin.
“Hinata, you dumbass!” Kageyama barked across the court, the set still lingering in his hands.
Tanaka skidded to a halt next to you, eyes wide. “You flew!”
“Like three feet off the ground!” Noya yelled, already by your side. “I haven’t seen airtime like that since that one pancake save!”
“Shut up!” Daichi barked as he sprinted over.
“Tanaka, Noya—back off!” Sugawara snapped, dropping to his knees beside you.
You blinked, dazed. Your head was throbbing, your ears ringing, and your face—oh god, your face hurt like hell. When you touched your nose, your fingers came away red.
“Oh, cool,” you muttered. “Nosebleed.”
Kiyoko was suddenly there, calm and terrifyingly efficient. She didn’t speak. She simply pressed tissues against your face with steady fingers, her other hand gently cupping your jaw to keep you from tilting your head back.
“Don’t move yet,” she said softly.
Yachi was crying. Not loudly—just little hiccups of panic as she dropped to her knees beside you, clutching the stopwatch like it could save your life.
“She's bleeding,” she whispered. “There’s so much blood…”
“She'll be fine,” Ennoshita said gently, crouching beside her. “It looks worse than it is.”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” you groaned, trying to sit up. “Just give me—”
You braced your palm against the floor, feeling the coolness of the gym through your fingertips. Your legs shifted underneath you, muscles tight with tension but fueled by sheer stubbornness. Slowly, you pushed off the ground and began to rise.
For half a second, it felt like you had it under control.
Then everything spun.
The gym floor rippled beneath your feet, tilting like a boat on rough water. Your vision smeared at the edges—colors blending, lights flickering. A low, sickening throb pulsed behind your eyes, then rushed like a wave toward your temples. You sucked in a breath, trying to steady yourself, but your knees buckled sharply.
A startled gasp slipped from your mouth as your body tilted sideways, gravity pulling you down faster than your brain could keep up.
Sugawara and Daichi caught you in unison—each locking an arm around your back with practiced, urgent precision. Like bodyguards. Like anchors.
“Okay, no,” Sugawara said, breath tight as he shifted his stance.
“Absolutely not,” Daichi echoed, voice firm as steel. “Sit. Now.”
They guided you back down to the floor as if you were made of glass.
Asahi hovered a few steps away, nervously wringing his towel. “Should we call someone? Get the school nurse?”
“She’s not on shift right now,” Kinoshita said, pulling out his phone. “Should I call the front desk?”
“Can’t we just carry her?” Narita asked, eyes wide. “I mean—not like drag her, but—gently?”
“She’s not a sack of rice!” Yachi exclaimed, clutching your notebook like it was her emotional support item. “We can’t just—lug her around!”
“I can carry her!” Asahi offered, visibly panicking. “I mean, if—if she wants. Or not. But I can! I swear!”
“No!” You and Daichi said simultaneously.
“You don’t have to drag her to the nurse’s office,” Tanaka muttered, half-serious, half-pouting. “We could just… y’know. Roll her in something.”
“Like a blanket burrito,” Noya added helpfully.
“Shut up!” came Daichi’s bark again.
Behind the main group, Tsukishima stood with his arms crossed. “That’s what happens when you step onto the court during a rally.”
Yamaguchi, crouching beside him, frowned. “She looks pretty hurt, Tsukki.”
Tsukishima shrugged but said nothing else.
“I didn’t mean to,” Hinata said suddenly, his voice soft, wavering. “It was just one more spike. I didn’t think…”
You tilted your head toward him, barely mustering a tired smile beneath the tissues. “Nice spike, though.”
He looked like he was going to cry.
“We should get her to the nurse,” Ennoshita said again, glancing toward the exit. “Even if no one’s in, it’s quieter there.”
“I’m coming too,” Kiyoko said, standing and brushing off her skirt. “Yachi, grab her bag.”
Daichi and Sugawara gently pulled you to your feet again, this time slower, with careful pauses between every movement. You leaned against them, breathing through the dizziness as they helped you to the door.
Behind you, the gym buzzed in confused silence.
“You’re too brave for this world,” Tanaka whispered with reverence.
“She’s got that dog in her,” Noya added solemnly.
“SHUT UP, YOU IDIOTS!” Daichi yelled over his shoulder.
As the doors closed behind you, you heard one last frantic voice.
“I’ll bring a fruit basket! I’LL MAKE TEA!” Hinata shouted, his panic echoing across the gym.
You groaned. “Please don’t.”
Sugawara Koushi had always been attentive. He had a way of reading you—of knowing exactly what you needed before you even asked. But tonight, you were the one who made the first move.
It started as a simple suggestion, whispered against his lips as you straddled his lap, your fingers curling into his soft, silver-streaked hair. "I want to try something different tonight, Koushi."
He tilted his head, amusement flickering in his brown eyes. "Different how?"
When you told him, his smile widened—slow, intrigued, dangerous.
"Yeah?" His voice dropped, hands squeezing at your waist. "Alright, sweetheart. Let’s try it."
And that was how you ended up here, tangled together, your legs draped over his shoulders, his mouth hot and greedy against you while you did your best to keep up.
It should have been a fair exchange, an even give-and-take. But Koushi wasn’t playing fair.
The second his tongue flicked against you, a slow, precise glide that sent sparks up your spine, you realized you were already at a disadvantage. His grip on your thighs tightened, his fingers pressing into your skin as he held you still, fully at his mercy.
You tried to focus, to keep up, your hands gripping him, stroking in time with the slow rock of your hips. You wanted to take him apart the way he was ruining you. But then—
He moaned.
The deep, reverberating sound vibrated against your core, and your body jolted, betraying you.
Koushi chuckled against your skin, smug and knowing. "Oh? That got to you?"
You whimpered, trying to suppress the way your thighs trembled around his head. But he felt it. Of course he did.
"You’re so sensitive tonight, sweetheart." His voice was teasing, but there was something else beneath it—something hungry. "I wonder how long you’ll last?"
Your breath hitched as his tongue worked you over with slow, devastating precision. Each flick, each swirl, each deliberate pressure against your clit sent you spiraling higher, faster than you wanted to admit. He was taking his time with you, making sure you felt every second of it.
You tried to fight back, to make him feel just as wrecked. You wrapped your lips around him, sinking down slow, letting your tongue drag along his length in a way you knew drove him insane.
It worked—his breath hitched, his hips twitching against your mouth. A sharp, shaky inhale.
But then, as if reminded of the game you were playing, he groaned into you, deep and unrestrained.
The sound wrecked you. Your grip on him stuttered, your rhythm faltering, a high-pitched whimper slipping from your lips. And just like that—
He knew he had you.
His hands squeezed at your thighs, pulling you impossibly closer, his tongue delving deeper, flicking faster, sucking just hard enough to send you spiraling.
You couldn’t focus anymore. Couldn’t even think.
"K-Koushi—" Your voice broke, your body arching against him as he worked you to the edge with ruthless patience.
"That’s it, sweetheart," he murmured against you. His voice was warm, coaxing, wrecking you. "Let go. I’ve got you."
And you did.
Pleasure crashed over you like a tidal wave, your whole body shaking, tensing, completely unraveling. A sharp cry spilled from your lips, your fingers digging into his thighs as your climax washed over you, leaving you trembling in his grasp.
But Koushi—Koushi wasn’t done.
As you gasped for breath, he didn’t let go. Instead, his hands guided you, adjusting you so you could move freely while still hovering over his face.
"There you go," he murmured, voice thick with satisfaction. "Ride it, sweetheart. Don’t be shy."
Your breath hitched as his tongue pressed against you again, your body twitching from overstimulation.
"I—I can’t—"
"You can," he reassured, hands firm on your thighs, keeping you steady as you ground down against him, chasing the pleasure all over again.
The change in position made it even worse— or better, depending on how you looked at it. You had more control now, more leverage, but the more you rocked against his mouth, the deeper the sensations coiled inside you.
Desperate for something to ground yourself, you let your hands trail down his stomach, wrapping your fingers around him from this angle, stroking in slow, teasing motions as you took him deeper into your mouth.
Koushi groaned into you, his grip on your thighs tightening, fingers digging into your skin as his body tensed beneath you.
His breath turned ragged as your hand moved faster, your grip tightening. He was close.
"Koushi—"
Your voice cracked as you came again, pleasure ripping through you, your whole body trembling in his grasp. The feeling of you tensing, shaking, completely wrecked above him— it pushed him over the edge.
A deep, shuddering groan left his lips as his body tensed beneath you, spilling into your hand as he finally let go, undone by the way you lost yourself above him.
You felt the tremor in his thighs, the way his fingers dug in just a little harder as his breath stuttered, his whole body shaking through the aftershocks.
For a long moment, neither of you moved.
Just ragged breaths, aftershocks still rippling through you both, your limbs tangled, your bodies completely spent.
Then—a soft chuckle.
Koushi pressed a slow, lingering kiss to your thigh before murmuring against your skin, "Think that might be my new favorite."
You let out a breathless laugh, still too wrecked to even open your eyes.
Just as you started to relax, his fingers brushed along your skin, soft, teasing, lingering.
"You alright, sweetheart?" His voice was sweet, too sweet.
You nodded weakly, still coming down, not yet realizing the danger.
Then, his lips curved against your thigh, and he murmured—
"Good. Let’s go for three."
Oh. You were in trouble.
Pairing: Setters x GN!Hashira!Reader
Prompt: While at the Hashira meeting, Y/n is told that they are a childish hashira and they need to be serious in situations. Y/n’s demon slayers or team finds out and they try comforting their hashira.
A/n: This idea came from my shower thoughts LMAOOOO also you are 5’2 in this story
✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰
It was a normal day, everyone was training and working hard. Even both of your tsugoku’s, Akaashi and Shirabu, were working hard.
Your Kasugai Crow came into your office you shared with your tsugoku’s flew onto your desk and announced that there was a hashira meeting.
You smiled widely knowing you get to see your other hashira friends.
You waved goodbye to Akaashi and Shirabu then jumped out the open window, much to their dismay.
You quickly ran over to the master's mansion and saw most of the hashira present. You giggled and jumped onto one of the hashiras.
“Ahh!” They exclaimed. They strengthened their hold on you before you fell off
“Heyyy [random/name]! Let’s play after this meeting!” You shook the hashira by the shoulders. [Random/name] looked at you, “Can you get anymore annoying?”, you looked at him confused.
“You're so childish! Grow up. You can't be all giggles and rainbows while fighting Muzan or demons” [Random/name] said. Another voice spoke up, “You also eat too much sweets by the time we have our battles with Muzan, you're going to be fat and out of breath”.
Ouch.
But before you could even speak, you heard something from another hashira.
“I wonder why they became hashira in the first place”
“Yeah, I honestly thought Akaashi was going to be one instead of them”
You were sad :(
How could they? Your own friends.
Master’s door slid open, meaning the meeting had started.
During the meeting you kept thinking, I’m not fat! I’ll show them I can be mature!
✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰
On the way to your mansion, you were craving for sweets,
But then you realized, you gave them to the master’s children.
You kept on walking and saw your mansion, you slowly smiled seeing Oikawa and Atsumu arguing who was going to give you sweets first, while Kogane was eating some of it behind them.
Akaashi, Semi, Futakuchi, Shirabu, Kageyama, Kenma, and Sugawara were getting annoyed or they stayed neutral.
Your smile dropped after remembering the other hashiras' words. Your team, or should I say family, saw you and welcomed you back with the sweets and their smiles
Excluding Shirabu and Futakuchi
You muttered a small “Thank you” and walked past them.
“Well that was weird” Oikawa stated, processing what just happened. Akaashi nodded in agreement.
“They would usually be excited to come back here and eat the sweets after the meeting or a mission,” Sugawara said. The group of boys walked inside and followed their hashira. “Y/n-sama, would you like some sweets?” Asked Kageyama.
You turned around and they had noticed, you had no smile on your face.
Infact, Kenma noticed no emotion in your eyes.
You gave them a small smile, which kind of relieved them, and said “No, thank you for the offer though” you bowed, turned around and headed towards your office.
The boys were thrown off, no way you would reject sweets like that.
Especially if they were your favorite.
“What the hell?” Atsumu said in shock.
✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰
For the past few days, you haven’t smiled or ate any sweets. You kept training and training. You also busied yourself with paperwork so you could avoid the boys.
You were getting skinnier, but you were eating.
Akaashi tried asking what was wrong.
Key word: Tried.
You would always try to distract him or change the subject. Your boys were saddened, not knowing what was wrong and not being able to help you with it. Shirabu had enough of it and sent a letter to one of the hashiras(One who trains the aces) and got a letter back stating what had happened during the hashira meeting.
The boys were mad mad
They headed straight towards you, you were hanging up some blankets and shirts.
“Hey,” you jumped at Kenma’s smooth and soft voice. You turned around and saw the boys gathered in front of you.
“Hey, what's going on?” You said, confused. Oikawa walked up to you and grabbed your hand into his and led you to the mansion and sat you down on the wooden plank.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Stated Semi.
“I don’t know what you are talking about”, you really don’t want to talk about it. You can see some of the boys are losing their patients.
“YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT!” Yelled Atsumu.
He grabbed you by the collar of your shirt and stared at you with his piercing brown eyes. Akaashi and Futakuchi both grabbed Atsumu by his shoulders, but Atsumu brushed them off.
“Why didn’t you tell us that the other hashiras called you names!?” Atsumu continued to yell in your face.
Your vision started to get clouded by tears, Atsumu’s eyes softened and he pulled you into his embrace.
He apologized for yelling at you and tried to sooth you.
Kogane being babey started smacking Atsumu multiple times.
You laughed.
The boys, except Atsumu, smiled. Akaashi patted you on the head with a smile on his face. He even wiped your tears.
WHAT A SWEETHEART😫❤️
“Now explain to us why you’ve been avoiding us,” Shirabu looked at you with his arms crossed. You fiddled with your fingers while looking down.
“I thought I needed to be a better hashira for you guys. I’m way too childish and I’m pretty sure you guys don’t want to take care of me and play with me anymore and focus on your training-” You were cut off by Kageyama shoving a lollipop in your mouth.
“Yeah, okay. If we didnt want to play with you, we wouldn’t want to hurt you and not play with you” Kageyama had sincerity in his eyes as he said that.
*Cricket Noises*
“Did that even make sense?” questioned Sugawara.
“What Tobio-chan was trying to say is, we enjoy playing with you and taking care of you regardless if we’re busy or not” Oikawa said with a smile.
Kogane piped up, “And Kogane likes taking care of Y/n soooo much that Kogane will cuddle Y/n when sleeping every day!!”,
Kenma, Sugawara, Akaashi, Oikawa, and Atsumu took offense to this.
“Okay…. Anyways, you shouldn’t change yourself to be a better person. People will love you the way you are, including us” Semi said confidently.
“As long as we’re alive and going, we’ll take care of each other” Smirked Atsumu. You smiled at them widely.
“Thank you!”, They pulled each other into a group hug much to Shirabu’s and Futakuchi’s protests.
The boys were relieved and happy they got you back to normal. They promised each other they will protect you at all costs.
That was until the battle with Muzan and the upper moons, their promise was not fulfilled.
Sugawara often finds himself humming summertime after intense matches, mainly to calm himself down. He'd just be casually vibing to the song in the lockeroom while changing, not bothering about his surroundings for a while. So when he turns back around, he's surprised everytime as he finds his teammates passed out in different places around the cramped room, sleeping peacefully. Suga finishes changing and sits in a free spot, waiting for Daichi to arrive and once Daichi does arrive, the man sits next to Suga, attempts to talk for a few minutes before dozing off on his shoulder, listening to Suga's soft voice. (Suga's voice is the unofficial lullaby for our Karasuno boys I swear-)
Hinata is the literal sunshine of the group, and so is his voice. One day Kageyama catches Hinata singing summertime (though Kags didn't have the slightest clue about what song it was) during a practice break and he scoots over closer to Hinata as inconspicuously as he could so that he was within hearing range. By the end of those four minutes, Kageyama couldn't care less about the identity of the song, he just wanted to keep listening to that annoyingly cheerful voice- something about it calmed him down.
The next time a practice break rolled around, Kageyama was well prepared with his phone clutched in his hand, ready to record the song the moment Hinata had started singing it (he didn't know if he would sing again, he could only hope that he did). Thank Kageyama's luck, Hinata sang summertime again and Kageyama pressed the fat looking red button on his phone, a smile on his face. Kageyama was enjoying the song secretly until Hinata turned around and screamed bloody murder looking at Kageyama's smile, calling it a "murderous look" with a "please don't hurt me Kageyama!". Kageyama huffed in annoyance, ending his recording session, happy for whatever part of the song that was now saved in his phone. He didn't stop glaring at Hinata though, his mind screaming "rude" at the human tangerine. (Kageyama was genuinely trying to smile though, poor boi)
While staring at his phone after practice, Kageyama remembers something that Atsumu said about having trouble sleeping. So he opens his chat, attaches Hinata’s recording and presses the send button. He has heard from Suga that people generally send songs to each other whenever they find it hard to sleep and since Kageyama didn't really listen to songs much, he sent Atsumu the only thing he had. His parents had taught him that caring is sharing , and he did care about him as a worthy rival.
Bonus : Atsumu looks at his phone after an intense practice regimen to find a message from Kageyama (Kags name is saved as 'goody two shoes' in his phone). He opens it excitedly to know what the younger setter had sent him and finds a recording with a single message attached to it - since you said you had trouble sleeping. He clicks the play button and is immediately bombarded by Hinata's cute voice. I'm definitely listening to this every night, Atsumu thinks, aggressively thanking Tobio back. (Hinata has no clue that he's become pretty famous with the Inarizaki high school volleyball team after that because Atsumu sets it as his ringtone and everyone wanted to know who sang it).
Yamaguchi is over at Tsukishima’s house for a sleepover and finds summertime on YouTube. He's immediately addicted to the song, memorizing the lyrics in a matter of minutes and wants to sing it. But he wants to sing it with Tsukishima and spends about half an hour convincing him to do it.
Eventually Tsukishima gives in, according to him it's just "one stupid song" that he had to sing. Tsukishima goes first, and Yamaguchi could tell that he was making some effort, because he's awkwardly trying to touch the high notes while keeping in tune. The sight makes Yamaguchi feel all warm inside, as he stares at Tsukishima with starry eyes until he finishes the song.
Then it was Yamaguchi's turn and Tsukishima’s hooked onto his voice from the first syllable. He stares at him, eyes wide, heart thundering loudly in his chest as he wills it to slow down so that he can hear Yamaguchi above the ringing in his ears. Yamaguchi sounds angelic , Tsukishima thinks and instantly regrets that he's never heard the shorter boy singing much before now. Well now Tsukishima knows, and he was going to use this knowledge to the fullest. Yamaguchi finishes the song successfully, a wide, happy grin on his face. Tsukishima clears his throat,
"Yamaguchi?"
"Yes Tsukki?"
"From now on, everytime you come over, you're singing."
Yamaguchi stares at him baffled, feeling too many things at once because he doesn't know what to feel. After taking a few minutes to digest Tsukishima’s request, he replies with a meek "Okay Tsukki," chest clenching in utter joy.
Kageyama for the life of him couldn't understand Modern Japanese. Kanji was too hard and he would keep messing up the strokes, and by the time he ended up writing a character on the page, it would just look like a drawing made by a grade schooler- the subject was seriously driving him mad. The vending machine at school could vouch for that if it had a mouth, because it's exterior is covered with a few hand-shaped dents, all from Kageyama's enraged fist.
"Shit," he muttered, as he made his way towards the residence of the one person who he knew could help him, though the question of whether he would help him was still hanging in the air. Kageyama rang the bell to Oikawa's house and waited for someone to open the door. He waited and waited but nobody answered the door. Maybe he's not at home, Kageyama thinks dejectedly and turns around with a heavy sigh, ready to walk back to his own house, when the neighbor's door opens, revealing Iwaizumi- a surprised expression plastered on his face.
"Hey Kageyama, surprising to see you here." Iwaizumi greets his ex-junior, to which Kageyama bows in reply. "I came to meet Oikawa san, is he not at home?" Iwaizumi pauses, thinking about the current whereabouts of his childhood friend, " Oikawa said he's taking his nephew to the park in the neighborhood, so he should still be there." , he says. Kageyama thanks him and makes his way towards the park to meet his senior.
He was just a few feet away from the park and could already hear Oikawa's annoying voice, teasingly calling out to someone. Does this guy have to tease everyone? Kageyama thinks as he turns the corner, finally spotting that patch of hazelnut hair, perfectly styled even with the evening wind that was subtly blowing.
Kageyama cleared his throat before calling out, "Oikawa san." Oikawa turned, brown eyes widening in surprise, having not expected a sudden visit from Tobio. "Oya oya, look who we have here." , Oikawa stated, his signature smirk back on his face. His previous target was all forgotten about, as Oikawa focused on Tobio, who was his all time favorite person to tease.
Kageyama bowed respectfully, " I'm having some difficulty with Modern Japanese so I was hoping that you could help me..." , he paused, looking up for a brief second to meet with hazel/brown eyes, "please."
Oikawa observed his junior, hazel eyes trained on his bowing form. This boy's as awkward as usual, he should really learn to lighten up more, Oikawa thinks. Everytime Kageyama came to him for a favour, Oikawa was always secretly pleased. Even after going to a new school and meeting new seniors, when it came to something important, Tobio would always come to him and on days Oikawa felt particularly low, he would think back to his adorable but awkward junior and all of his unique behaviors. That always managed to cheer him up and make him feel giddy, and Oikawa would ride that high for hours. He smirked, looking forward to this encounter with Tobio already.
Oikawa knew that he would end up helping him in the end, it was always like that and he had a feeling that's how it would always be. I will help him, but not before I have my own fun, he thinks smugly- it's just ingrained as a part of his personality. "I will help you Tobio chan," Oikawa replies and he watches as Tobio's eyes light up for a brief moment, before continuing, " but not before you do something for me." Tobio's face had gone back to his usual poker face that he had these days, any semblance that Oikawa could see of the Tobio that he knew back in middle school completely gone now.
Kageyama had expected this, so he wasn't too surprised. With a sigh, he spoke up, " what do you want me to do Oikawa san?" Oikawa looked around, as if the answer to that question lay in the skies or the trees in the park. His eyes landed on his nephew who was happily jumping from one monkey bar to another. " If you can sing summertime better than me, then I'll help you with your work Tobio chan." Oikawa stated.
Kageyama stared at him, baffled. He had figured out the name of the song after hearing Hinata singing it on loop back in school. He just didn't understand why everyone was so obsessed with that song. "I know that you obviously don't know the song, so I'll let you look at the lyrics and sing." Oikawa added, clearly not expecting his junior to know the song, even if it was super popular.
Kageyama simply smirked, " I know the song Oikawa san, so I'll be fine." Oikawa stared at him, surprised once again. You never fail to surprise me Tobio chan, Oikawa thinks and chuckles. He had just listened to the song with his nephew while walking over to the park, so Oikawa remembered the lyrics too. "So, I'll go first," Oikawa says and begins to sing.
Kageyama's heart clenched, similar to how it did when he heard Hinata sing, but even more. He guesses it's because he has never heard Oikawa's voice like this- all soft, smooth, and silky, because whenever he was looking at him, he was always fooling around with people. I should've known that he was good at everything, shit, Kageyama cursed inside his head. How was he supposed to beat this? Oikawa finished, a smug smirk playing on his lips. "How was that Tobio chan? I could have a side profession as a singer right?" Oikawa playfully taunted Tobio like he always did, expecting to see Tobio's usual scowl, or the younger boy gritting his teeth in apparent frustration.
But what Oikawa was shown instead made him almost gasp out loud. Tobio was looking at him, all docile and shy, staring at him with starry eyes and it reminded Oikawa of how he would look at him back in middle school for a second. Oikawa's heart clenched but he didn't know why. He just balled his fists tight to hide his nervousness and wait for the younger boy to do anything, say anything.
Kageyama finally spoke up after what felt like eons, " Yes you can Oikawa san." , he said in a small whisper as a response to Oikawa's previous question and the sincere tone in which that was said made Oikawa's cheeks feel warm. He cleared his throat, desperate to change the topic, " Now it's your turn Tobio chan." , Oikawa said, genuinely interested in hearing Tobio sing. This would be the first time for Oikawa to hear him singing.
Little did he know that this was the first time that Tobio sang in front of anyone else either- he was strictly a bathroom singer, but now, desperate situations called for desperate measures. Tobio began singing, Oikawa staring at him intently, as if drinking every syllable that fell out of his lips. Oikawa thought it was very Tobio-like- a warm, sincere and honest voice- and he would never admit this out loud but Tobio sounded really good. Like really good. Oikawa lowkey wanted to record it but somehow managed to hold on to the last ember of pride in him. He would have to devise another plan for that someday.
Kageyama finished the song, sighing in relief that this torture was finally over. He then got up and turned around, putting one foot in front of the other- ready to go back home. He had lost in the sing-off battle that they had just had. Oikawa didn't say it, but he knew it himself, his voice was no good when compared to Oikawa's.
Oikawa stood up, slightly baffled but at the same time understanding why Kageyama did what he did. He's been watching him for years after all, and the boy has always been so foolishly stupid and straightforward- like an arrow that didn't know how to bend. Oikawa had come to understand that that was how Tobio showed his kindness, and it made him feel happy and irritated at the same time, that someone could be so painfully sincere in life. "Where do you think you're going Tobio chan?" Oikawa called out (even though he knew the answer) just as Kageyama was about to leave that park entrance. Kageyama simply looked back and replied, "home."
Oikawa sighed, calling out to his nephew, " Come on, let's go home! I have to help my junior with some of his work." Kageyama stood there with an expression that said "why?" Once his nephew came over, Oikawa walked over to Kageyama who was waiting for him at the gate. "Your summertime was pretty good Tobio chan, so I'll teach you as a reward for that." Tobio smiled at Oikawa's back as he walked behind him, Oikawa's nephew tagging by his side. "Oh, I didn't know that you helped people Tooru, that's news to me!" , the young boy chirped sarcastically and earned a karate chop to the back of his head from his uncle. He raced back home, leaving Oikawa and Kageyama walking side by side.
"That stupid brat!" Oikawa huffed out, slightly irritated, " I'll have to teach him proper manners sometime."
And just like that, Kageyama spent the evening in Oikawa's house mulling over his Kanji, while Oikawa tried to desperately the raven haired boy awake while learning the subject. (Oikawa is best tutor <3)
This is my first post here, I just felt like I had to write something after listening to all those versions of summertime. These were so fun to write and I hope you all enjoyed them! Please let me know if you want me to continue this.
