Jace Herondale in a relationship with someone who has anxiety
Jace Herondale Masterlist
Note: A little self-indulgent here because I have diagnosed anxiety
Warnings: Anxiety, crowds, food, among other things.
PICTURES ARE NOT MINE
He picked up on it really fast
He might not have realized it was anxiety but he just knew that you were uncomfortable
Jace tries his best to help you
If you feel overwhelmed by a crowd he’s quick to pull the two of you in an alleyway so you calm down
Afraid of speaking? He’s got you
He knows your thoughts and motives so he has no problem communicating your thoughts to someone else
Also has no problem telling someone off or punching them for making you uncomfortable
If your nervous from someone staring at you he steps in between the two of you
Nervous about a fight? He’s never out of your sight
He likes to name the facts or his observations
For example: you think everyone is staring at your outfit while at a restaurant
He catches your eye
“Everyone is here to eat.”
“This place is pretty, they’re admiring the scenery.”
“Did you see the way his eye just twitched?” He’s on a first date with that girl, he’s too busy trying to impress her to notice anything around him. Like how he’s about to spill the water right down his shirt.”
“You don’t know these people. They don’t know you.”
“Even if you were ever to be in the same room again, you wouldn’t recognize each other.”
“You look stunning.”
If it’s too loud in a room and you’re okay with it, he wraps him arms around you and pulls you to his chest so you can listen to his heart beat
Will defend you from anyone
This man would fight to the death for you
Overwhelmed by the amount of work you need to do? He helps you plan it out with plenty of breaks inbetween
Has an endless amount of patience for you
Would sit with you for hours to help you on whatever you’re doing
He’s really good at massages too
If you’re having a headache or you’re stiff he doesn’t mind rubbing your back, shoulders, head, etc.
But he would like one in return
If you’re feeling overstimulated from talking to so many people he’ll find an empty area where you can be alone, or he’ll just take you home
He doesn’t care if it’s an important event you are his #1 priority
He’s subconsciously making sure that you’re eating enough and drinking enough water
He’s probably showed up to your room before with either a nice snack or meal saying how, “You have not eaten.”
He’s your emotional support person when you go out into the wild public
He doesn’t care if you cling to him or follow him around at a social event the entire time, in fact, he enjoys it
if he’s not with you, he’s worried the entire time
Like seriously, he’s acting like a parent
doesn’t like to be away from you if he knows you could be put into a situation where you get anxious (which is a lot)
Big on praising you
He’s good at noticing what your most self-conscious about and he just spends so much time praising it
He has a really nice voice too
Sometimes he just whispers to you while in public events about nonsense just to distract you or to make you smile
Doesn’t give a fuck who sees the two of you (unless it puts you in danger)
If you’re insecure about other people finding him attractive he’d probably make out with you in front of them just to remind you that you’re the only one he cares about
He probably has some anxiety too
He just doesn’t realize it

PICTURES ARE NOT MINE
The bed was nice and comfortable this particular morning. A little too comfortable. But you don’t think that was because of the bed.
A hand was rubbing up and down your back. Soothing you and relaxing your posture. You don’t think you could’ve cared if a demon had burst through the door at that very moment.
“I was wondering when you would finally wake up.” The blonde said
“The beds comfortable.” You replied in a whisper
“You mean my bed is comfortable.”
You looked around the room in confusion. Sure enough you were in Jaces room.
Your brain scanned for memories of last night.
“What happened?” You asked turning around to face him.
Jace was propped up on his elbow, his face in his palm as he looked down on you.
“We nearly got killed by a demon. We got back to the institute and ordered some dinner, you crashed after dinner. Typical night.” Jace shrugged
You nodded, half awake. A yawn left your mouth.
“So,” you began, “what’s for breakfast?”
Jace smiled, an easy, soft smile. Not like the sharp sarcastic ones he often gave others. These smiles were reserved for only when it was the two of you.
“Well, Alec’s at the old warlocks, Izzy went out with fangs, and Clary’s at the abandoned police station, meeting with some werewolves. Something apparently happened last weekend that we needed to be bothered about so Clary went to check it out. So we could order in or-”
“Should we have sent someone with her?” You asked
“Her dads there of course. Besides, Clary can hold her own.”
You hummed in agreement, Clary might be small but she is one feisty girl. Especially when you beat her at a board game while drunk.
Jace cleared his throat teasingly, “As I was saying we could order something or I could make something.”
You raised your eyebrows, “You can cook?”
“And bake.” Jace added, seemingly not at all offended by his partner's words.
“Since when?”
“Since forever. My father wanted me to be very diverse in my skills, that includes culinary arts.” He stopped for a moment, “And how to sing the entire abc’s in fifteen seconds.”
You were going to comment on that but Jace sat up, and you closed your mouth.
“Shall we?” He held out his hand for you
You chuckled and took his hand, “I suppose we shall.”
—————————
The kitchen was reasonably enormous. With the amount of rooms the institute held it only made for the kitchen to be such an extended space.
Jace let go of your hand and went over the fridge.
When you saw him eyeing the leftovers you spoke up, “I thought you were supposed to be showing off your excellent chef skills.”
Jace looked towards, amused, “I am, but that doesn’t mean I can’t think about lunch in the process.”
You rolled your eyes but smiled nonetheless.
Jace looked at the fridge, deep in the thought, then he grinned.
You raised your eyebrows, “What’s that look?”
Jace looked at you, “What look?”
You point at him, “That one. It makes me nervous.”
He smirked, “I make you nervous?”
“Wha- You know what I mean.” You said
His smirk didn’t fade, “Of course I do.”
You watched him as he walked to the cabinets and began searching through them.
He glanced back at you, “Make yourself comfortable, darling. Perfection takes time.”
——————————
You lost track of the time. You mostly talked to Jace while he worked. Jace was a good multi-tasker. He told you some old stories (some you were sure he made up) as he continued his work.
Like fighting, Jace moved smoothly throughout the kitchen. Never knocking anything over, or burning himself, or stopping to make sure he had added the right thing into the pan. You were a little jealous.
“Go sit at the table.” Jace said
Twenty minutes later he brought over a tray of food. You felt a bit like royalty in that moment.
The food looked amazing, you had believed him when he said he could cook and bake but you were very pleasantly surprised.
If it looked amazing, it certainly smelled even better.
The tray was full of the kind of food you’d see in a movie. There was a mixture of fruits, fluffy pancakes, a little cup full of syrup, another of chocolate chips. It even had a little cup full of your favorite candy. There was chocolate syrup in another cup.
Jace leaned over you with a whipped cream can in hand and made a little swirl on top of your pancakes. He gave you a kiss on the cheek as well.
You looked up at him, jaw dropped. He only smirked in return, validated by your expression.
“Wow, Jace, this is…amazing.” You said for a lack of a better word.
“I told you.” He said
He took a couple of the mixed fruits from your plate and popped them into his mouth.
You raised an eyebrow at him, but he only took another, keeping eye contact with you the entire time.
“Now,” He pushed the tray towards you, “try it so you can tell me more about how jaw dropping I am.”
“I did not say jaw dropping.” You said
His smirk was still ever so present, “You didn’t have to, darling.”
You cast one more glare towards him before adding what you wanted to your pancakes and taking a bite.
It was really good.
You couldn’t help but moan in delight.
“I take it I am as good as I know I am.” Jace said
“I admit, this is really fantastic.” You said
“Fantastic, hm? I like that.” He said, “Since I made it I suppose it’s only fair if I try it, right?”
You shrugged, he had made a lot of food.
You expected him to take the fork and dig into the pancakes, not to pull you into his lap and kiss you.
He swallowed your gasp of surprise, passionately kissing you until you couldn’t remember the taste of the food.
When he pulled back, you were confused.
He looked at you in thought before saying, “My food is fantastic.”
But the look in his eyes told you he didn’t care at all for the food.
His hands that rested on your hips pulled your lips back to his.
The leftovers from breakfast were put in the fridge for later.

PICTURES ARE NOT MINE
The sun was setting outside, the clouds and the orange glow from the sun made the sky look like a painting. The glass towers of Alicante only added to the beautiful scenery. For a moment or two you couldn’t take your eyes from the scene.
Then you heard a loud crash and your head involuntarily turned to see what was going on. Your mind swirled with the worst possible scenarios.
You were relieved to see that it was just a vampire who dropped his glass of blood.
The relief didn’t last long as you noticed that the blood had stained a faeries dress. She had dark green skin with light violet eyes. Her teeth were pointy and she was visibly angry. She snarled at the vampire who looked shocked at what had happened. You worried you might have to step in but then a faerie with butterflies on her cheeks came up to her friend.
They talked in hushed voices and glanced around. You realized that some of the other shadowhunters had also been watching. Some looked more on edge than the others. Some looked upon the scene with dissatisfaction, as if they had been the ones who had blood spilt on them.
You suddenly wished people could mind their own business when you noticed that the green faerie looked quite embarrassed. She glanced upon her dress with disappointment.
It was such a nice dress you noticed. You sighed, feeling bad for the faerie.
“What’s everyone looking at?” A certain warlock whispered in your ear
You turned and noticed that Magnus and Alec were standing beside you. Magnus was trying to look through the crowd but you could tell Alec saw easily over everyone with his height.
Alec whispered in Magnus’ ear and you knew he was telling him.
“What was it stained with?” Magnus asked aloud
“Blood.” You commented
“Oh, dear.” Magnus shook his head and watched as the two faeries wandered out of the big room.
“It was such a beautiful dress too.” You commented
“Alexander, be a dear and hold my bag, would you.” Magnus handed his bag over to Alec without looking, then followed the path the faeries had gone.
Alec, looking confused, quickly followed after his boyfriend, muttering to you a quick “bye”.
You sighed, realizing you were alone. You walked over to the long table with refreshments of all sorts to fit the different appetites of the party's guests.
You grabbed a wooden stick with different fruits on it and looked around the ballroom.
You saw Izzy, wearing a gorgeous skin tight dress that complimented her figure nicely, leading Simon through a dance. If he had still been human you guessed that the dance wouldn’t have come so effortlessly to him as it looked.
“He reminds me of a chicken.” A familiar voice whispered in your ear.
You smiled, pleased, with this newfound presence. “I think they look nice.” You defended your friend.
Jace was wearing nice clothes, you noticed. He was in a black suit that hugged his body quite nicely. For a moment you could only feel jealous of the suit.
Jace shook his head, snapping you out of your thoughts, “No. He’s picking up his feet too much and flailing his arms like a goose.” Jace sighed, “Maybe I should’ve listened to Izzy when she asked me to teach him to dance.”
“You think you can do better?” You asked
He grinned at you, “I know I can do better.”
He grabbed your hand leading you to the floor.
“Do you know the dance?” He asked, setting one hand on your waist and the other in your hand.
“Some parts.” You answered, nervous.
Jace smiled, “Don’t worry, I’ll lead.”
Jace began to move, pulling your body with his. The dance seemed so effortless to him, you were doing your best to keep up.
But you were able to catch onto the dance. You smiled, proud of yourself.
Jace noticed too, “Good girl.” He whispered into your ear.
Before you could react Jace spun you again. You stumbled into his arms. You were quick to notice the stupid smirk on his face.
“If you keep spinning me, you’ll make me fall.” You whispered
Jace only smiled at you, “I’d never let you fall.”
And he spun you again.
“Jace.” You hissed
He hummed with a smirk, “Pay attention to the dance darling or you might trip.”
You rolled your eyes but listened.
His body was warm, his hands rested nicely on your body. Jace's golden eyes were focused solely on you. Only his Shadow hunter training kept him from bumping into the guests nearby.
“Get ready, I’m about to lift you.” Jace said out of nowhere
Your eyes grew wide. Both of Jaces hands went to your hips and raised you into the air. Your hands went to his shoulders, hoping to steady yourself.
When your feet met the ground your feet miraculously went back into the dance. But your breath was shallow.
Jace noticed and slowed, “No more.” He promised you
You nodded, catching your breath.
Jace stopped suddenly, and you stopped with him.
“Come. Let’s go somewhere a bit more private.” He led you to one of the ceiling high doors.
The sky had grown dark, and now the stars were out.
You marveled at their beauty. You stopped when you heard a familiar chuckle.
Jace was leaning against one of the stone walls looking directly at you.
“What?” You asked
“Can you name any of them?” He asked
“What?” You said confused
“The stars. Can you name any of them?” He repeated
You shook your head, “Can you?”
Jace looked up at the sky, “Maybe a couple.”
You smiled, and walked towards him.
The night was beautiful, but also chilly. Your gown, though stunning, didn’t do much to keep you warm. You leaned your head on Jaces chest, testing the waters and seeing what he was comfortable with.
His arms went around your waist pulling you closer.
“Your gown is lovely.” He murmured
You hummed in agreement, “Izzy helped me pick it out.”
Jace nodded in acknowledgment. Jace kissed your forehead and you involuntarily shivered.
“Cold?” You could feel the smile on his lips.
You nodded, “I am.”
Jace tutted, “Well we can’t have that, can we?”
Jace let go of you and stood in the middle of the terrace.
“What are you doing?” You asked
Jace shrugged, “Haven't you heard that if you keep your body moving you’ll stay warm. So we could fight or dance or...something else.” He smirked suggestively
“I choose dancing.” You said walking towards him
He looked disappointed for a moment but he quickly wiped the look off his face as you grew near, “Eager are we?” He teased
You grinned, “Eager not to be cold anymore.”
He huffed out a laugh, taking your hand in his.
At first the dance was fast, then it slowed at the sound of the piano.
You laid your head on Jaces chest when a cold breeze came through.
You could feel Jaces chest rumble as he chuckled.
“Enjoying yourself are you?”
You scoffed, “You’re warm and I’m cold.”
“Perhaps we should head inside?” He suggested
You shook your head, “I like it out here. With you.” You mumbled the last part but you were sure he heard.
The night was still young, but you could feel yourself drifting off to sleep with your head on your lover's chest and the sound of piano being played in the background, as you danced under a starry sky.

Jace Herondale Masterlist
Word Count: 1k
Genre: fluff | hurt/comfort?
Pairing(s): Jace Herondale x reader
Summary: When Jace is under house arrest in Magnus’ apartment, you come to keep him company.
Warnings: Food, house arrest, brief sexual innuendo
Characters: Jace Lightwood, Magnus Bane
————————————————
PICTURES ARE NOT MINE
You knocked hesitantly on the front door of Magnus’s apartment. You heard faint footsteps until the door swung open, revealing a frazzled Magnus.
“Ah! Splendid, you’re here!” He said in a non-sarcastic voice, much to your surprise.
You held up the bag of food you were holding, “I brought food, I was hoping-“
“To keep Mr. Wayland- or I suppose not Wayland..” he muttered to himself, “Just…keep him busy. He won’t stop cleaning things. Oh, and keep your clothes on!”
You flushed but stepped through the door of Magnus’ apartment.
“He’s in the TV room.” Magnus pointed down the hall where you could hear noise pouring out, “I’ll take the food.” Magnus simply plucked the bag out of your arms and ushered to where Jace was.
You walked into the room, it was quite cozy, you thought. Jace looked up uninterested at the sound of footsteps but grinned when he saw you.
“Come to keep me company have you?” He wiggled his eyebrows
You scoffed playfully, “Actually, I came to make sure you don’t starve, and annoy Magnus to death. Alec wouldn’t be very happy, you know.”
Jace pouted, “Are you sure you didn’t come just to get your daily dose of this handsome face.”
“No, Magnus isn’t really my type.” Jace glared at you.
You giggled a little in return, Jace only rolled his eyes.
“Are you going to sit down or do you plan on staring at me all evening?” The blonde asked
You only smiled in return making your way over to the other side of the couch.
“Why are you so far away, what is this, the 1950s?” Jace scooted over to where you were seated and rested his head on your chest.
“Comfortable?” You ask, scratching his head lightly.
Jace grinned, eyes closed, “Very.”
It was then Magnus walked into the room. He stopped for a moment and raised his eyebrow. You shrugged, not halting your movements.
“Yes, glitter dealer, what is it?” Jace asked not opening his eyes
Magnus looked like he was going to comment on that but decided not to, “I was just wondering if the two of you were hungry. Seeing as your girlfriend is the one that brought the food.”
Jace looked up at you, “What’d you get?”
“Stuff from that Italian place we went to one time. Y’know, the night we were celebrating not being killed by that greater demon.” You answered
“If we celebrated every time we weren’t killed by a demon we’d have more parties in a year than Magnus has had in his entire life.” Jace responded
Magnus raised a finger, “Actually it would probably take you about…let’s see here.” Magnus was in a thinking position
Jace groaned, “I’m sorry I said anything.”
Magnus stopped his mental process, he looked at Jace and sighed, “Foods getting cold y’know.” Then he walked out
Jace jumped up, holding his hand out to you. You took it with a sarcastic smile. He grinned back. He seemed to do that a lot, grin.
The food was as good as it always was. You and Magnus exchanged small chatter, Jace being a bit preoccupied enjoying his dinner but occasionally added some unwanted (but amusing) sarcastic comments.
“Well, I suppose it is the perfect night after all. How about a movie?” Magnus suggested. He seemed adamant at keeping you longer. He had already ordered some cheesecake from a shop nearby.
“Like what, Sonic the Hedgehog goes to Vegas?” Jace asked
Magnus ignored him, “I thought the two of you could pick a movie. Seeing as you are quite younger than me. And I admit that I am not best at keeping up with all the movies.”
“Too busy inventing new ways to put glitter on the human body.” Jace said dryly
“Too busy throwing fabulous parties one might say.” Magnus responded
“Maybe if they're hoping to get laid.” Jace muttered
You interrupted them with the name of the movie you had been hoping to watch.
“Sounds lovely.” Magnus said, folding his hands tightly, mouth thin, “What’s it about?”
“Well I’ve never seen it before…” Jace looked at you, thoroughly amused, “but I’ve heard it’s really entertaining.”
“Doesn’t hurt to try.” Magnus decided
Jace grumbled but nodded.
___________
You made a mental note to never suggest watching a movie with Jace and Magnus ever again.
Most of the time they argued, Jace kept interrupting to make comments of the inaccuracy in the plot points or to make fun of the characters.
“All right, I’m heading out.” You say standing up from the couch
Jace looked displeased, “You aren’t staying?”
“No, she is not.” Magnus commented looking at his nails
“I’ll be back tomorrow.” You assured him but he still looked unhappy.
Doing the first thing that came to mind you leaned down and kissed him.
He hummed in surprise but didn’t pull back. He rested his hands on your hips. They held you in place as he kissed back.
Magnus cleared this throat loudly. “Let’s get the goodbyes over with so I can go to bed.”
“We’re not children, you know. We know where the door is.” Jace grumbled
“You are still children, and I prefer my couch to remain quite clean.”
“Whatever.” Jace grumbled. He grabbed your hand and pulled you towards the front door.
“And lock the door once she leaves!” Magnus called from back in the room
When you made it to the front door you could still see that Jace was unwilling to let you leave so soon, “You’ll be back tomorrow?”
You nodded, “I’ll be back tomorrow.”
“Good.” He pulled you in for a kiss. One that wouldn’t be interrupted by the host of the apartment.
Pulling back and you were dazed. Jace's eyes swirled with many emotions. He stroked your cheek delicately and his eyes lit when you shivered. His hand was warm and would’ve been smooth if it weren’t for all the tiny scars that raised his skin. You felt them all as he caressed your face, as if he was memorizing it.
“Goodnight.” You say finally
His lips thinned, “Good night. I will see you tomorrow.”
“You will.” You promised
Closing the door after you stepped out. You let out a sigh. He’d be back at the institute soon enough, you tell yourself.
