Game Fuckery Help and Linux List [Update].

Game Fuckery Help And Linux List [Update].

I'm avoiding re-installing this shit again, so in the meantime I'm sorting some stuff into lists. For Linux research purposes.

Edit: Standby Memory Allocation on Windows 10: New info coming in: That's not the issue. However, what i wrote below about TM is my own experience and has worked for me (without doing what Jessa was saying in the SB memory part, I remembered, hope I didn't waste anybody's time). Does it make sense? idk, but it's harmless, and if it's actually a thing and not just a freak coincidence, and can help anybody else then why not. I do remember trying it with and without cleaning cache :/ [for fuck sake the nerve on EA to put out for sale a new edition without improving it to 64bit]. As discussed by Jessa below, it's an OS problem. What worked for me, for some bizarre reason was to keep Task Manager on before and while playing the game. without it my game was crashing often, on my main non gaming computer. What solved it was fixing windows... for anyone's interested, the gory details are at the bottom of the post under the cut.

+ That combined with clearing cache often.

Jessa's video (Memory Allocation and 4GB Patch Repair). Edit: Turns out this video was pulled back, so basically just make sure the patch is applied?

That's it for now. Any more information or good links will be welcome.

Task Manager thing briefly, for the curious (as if it interests anyone else but me, but in the interest of keeping track).

So the game was crashing often. That thing was easy to spot because the laptop would make loud airplane noises when I'd load the game. It got stuck or something, so I went to end it by force with task manager and noticed that all the resources where used to the max - right up until I'd open TM, and then everything would cool down. Like it was playing hide and seek with me. So I figured I'd get smart with it right back, and just leave TM open the whole time. Low and behold, the game stopped crashing. That combined with clearing cache often. Does it make sense? idk, but the computer works in mysterious ways.

Naruto 2

Ok.... Anyway, I hope this does not crash at least in 3 paragraphs....

Gaara is character we all know for the fact he was lonely and hurt, so he wanted to repay back and saw the world as black and white where one lives for themselves. This is so relatable, because the world be like that. Naruto made connection with him, since they can relate. Naruto's way of life rubbed on Gaara. In ultimate ego centric way of existence, there is nothing but constant destruction. Gaara understands it deeply, so he abandons it for hope, for ability to enjoy something longlasting

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK UFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

Second paragraph. The idea of dreams and the world of virtual reality, the project tsukoyi no me can become like that, in the real world we have AI and nuclear synthesis. So that means, humans are capable of having ego centric fantasy in virtual reality with contemporary driven energy consumptions using nuclear energy. i ask you IF THIS IS EVIL if it benefits you or if its evil from authenticity? SIGH

it crasehs every fucking time. FUCK THIS PLACE

Third paragraph. Just think of these two examples and think of what I said in previous lines. Ignore the video of me sleepin'.

I don't think people realize how absolutely wild Linux is.

Here we have an Operating system that now has 100 different varieties, all of them with their own little features and markets that are also so customizable that you can literally choose what desktop environment you want. Alongside that it is the OS of choice for Supercomputers, most Web servers, and even tiny little toy computers that hackers and gadget makers use. It is the Operating System running on most of the world's smartphones. That's right. Android is a version of Linux.

It can run on literally anything up to and including a potato, and as of now desktop Linux Distros like Ubuntu and Mint are so easily to use and user friendly that technological novices can use them. This Operating system has had App stores since the 90s.

Oh, and what's more, this operating system was fuckin' built by volunteers and users alongside businesses and universities because they needed an all purpose operating system so they built one themselves and released it for free. If you know how to, you can add to this.

Oh, and it's founder wasn't some corporate hotshot. It's an introverted Swedish-speaking Finn who, while he was a student, started making his own Operating system after playing around with someone else's OS. He was going to call it Freax but the guy he got server space from named the folder of his project "Linux" (Linus Unix) and the name stuck. He operates this project from his Home office which is painted in a colour used in asylums. Man's so fucking introverted he developed the world's biggest code repo, Git, so he didn't have to deal with drama and email.

Steam adopted it meaning a LOT of games now natively run in Linux and what cannot be run natively can be adapted to run. It's now the OS used on their consoles (Steam Deck) and to this, a lot of people have found games run better on Linux than on Windows. More computers run Steam on Linux than MacOS.

On top of that the Arctic World Archive (basically the Svalbard Seed bank, but for Data) have this OS saved in their databanks so if the world ends the survivors are going to be using it.

On top of this? It's Free! No "Freemium" bullshit, no "pay to unlock" shit, no licenses, no tracking or data harvesting. If you have an old laptop that still works and a 16GB USB drive, you can go get it and install it and have a functioning computer because it uses less fucking resources than Windows. Got a shit PC? Linux Mint XFCE or Xubuntu is lightweight af. This shit is stopping eWaste.

What's more, it doesn't even scrimp on style. KDE, XFCE, Gnome, Cinnamon, all look pretty and are functional and there's even a load of people who try make their installs look pretty AF as a hobby called "ricing" with a subreddit (/r/unixporn) dedicated to it.

Linux is fucking wild.

The terminal is where you communicate intimately with your OS (and run neofetch on)

Don't imagine you know what a computer terminal is.

A computer terminal is NOT some clunky old television with a typewriter in front of it.

It is an interface where the mind and body can connect with the universe and move bits of it about.

it’s especially stressful if said linux install is nixos, an operating system *specifically designed to not break easily*. it turns out far enough in the process of building a nixos configuration rollbacks stop working entirely.

I struggle to get myself to like Gnome.

Like, if I feel more comfortable using Windows 8, then something is wrong.

Stop talking shit about Linux Desktop Environments!

KDE is Pretty! XFCE is Efficient! Gnome... Mate is Traditional!

Fluttershy would be too scared to even use a smartphone, I bet

Twilight Sparkle would totally be an Arch Linux poweruser.

Rainbow Dash would probably use a decked-out Windows PC for gaming, but fall shitty tech trends without question (AI art, NFTs, etc)

(Flim and Flam would be the ones pushing the AI art and Web3 shit)

Rarity would probably be snobbish and use a Macbook, before either raging like a beast or sobbing whenever it randomly breaks.

Fluttershy would be likely be way too scared to even use a computer, until her friends pressure her into getting a cheap Chromebook so she could at least get online. Even then, she would mostly use sites like Facebook to post about the most mundane shit imaginable, while likely unaware what exactly a "meme" is.

Pinkie Pie would be extremely reckless and use an outdated version of Windows without being aware, while constantly infecting her PC with viruses and crapware. In addition, she would probably get frequently contacted by tech support scammers, think they're actually from tech support, but annoy them too much with her Pinkie Pie antics for them to really do anything.

Applejack would be total luddite who only upgrades Windows very reluctantly. She doesn't even like to use her computer that much, but when she does, she just wants it to "get shit done" without having to deal with annoying gimmicks.

My First CTF (Capture the Flag)

I've never had any experience doing CTF's or using nmap, but today has been really fun as I continued to learn how to find flags using nmap. For this to be able to happen, I went on Hack The Box and started practicing on there.

My experience with this was actually quiet fascinating. I learned about port scanning through nmap and have picked up a skill in knowing how to use the Linux terminal and navigate through it. Today, two of my CTF's contained lessons about using nmap to find open ports for Telnet and FTP (File Transfer Protocol). I'll admit it took me a while to learn how to find the flags within those services but I found great enjoyment in it. To be honest, I want to do so much more as I develop these skills and learn how to use new tools. Doing this also has helped me stay off the phone for a bit because doom scrolling on Instagram or YouTube is really unhealthy.

As a beginner in this area, I highly encourage newcomers to get on Hack The Box if you want to learn how to use nmap, as it also gives you a step by step lessons on how to find the flags and teaches you what to look for, for your future use of nmap.

I felt like sharing this post today because I wanted to show the hacking community how excited I am learning these skills, and even though I haven't done as much and an experience hacker, I'm still proud of the work I've done. If there's any advice, or pointers that anyone is willing to give me, I'll gladly take it. Anyways, thank you for reading this post.

And as always, Godspeed everyone.

First Time Setting Up Arch Linux

Today I finally decided to practice setting up Arch Linux on a virtual machine and not gonna lie, that was TOUGH. I was only having trouble installing grub because I didn't know the difference between UEFI and BIOS, lmao. All good though.

Within the last hour, my user had a password already which had left me stuck because I couldn't log in. So i had to look up online how to delete the password for my user. Luckily I figured it out,(still learning the terminology so please be patient with me) I had to be in root or chroot and use the command passwd -d [user] which then I could put a new password for my user.

I know my situation sounds dumb but I had a lot of fun setting up Arch Linux, and I hope to learn more as I continue using Arch.

Anyways, thank you for reading this post, and Godspeed :)
