I think what I love about gilderat is how complex it could be. Imagine the marauders, absolutely despising gilderoy for how stuck up and stubborn he is (not Like there any different). But then there was Peter, less stuck up and stubborn than the other marauders and also absolutely obsessed with gilderoy. He never expressed these feeling to anyone and he was good at hiding it, until gilderoy was moved into Peter’s class because of reasons he was paying attention to. Slughorn paired gilderoy with Peter claiming “you will do better with him rather than mucking around with all your dumb friends,” so Peter reluctantly agreed.
Over the next year Peter would absolutely despise gilderoy for being smarter than him and absolutely despise how attractive he was. So when it was late and they were Together in the potions classroom, Peter was very ready to go back to his dorm and sleep. That was until gilderoy practically pounced on Peter, there lips interlocking and Peter didn’t complain. Instead gilderoys hand pulled frantically at Peter’s hair and Peter pulling on gilderoys waistint, wanting him closer.
And they kept it a secret, for a while atleast. But they never dated, atleast that was gilderoy said, and yes there was the whole cologne thing, Peter would ask but never get an answer. And yes Peter also asked why they couldn’t date, because he loved the sneaking around in broom closets and empty classroom, once even in the dorms at a gryffindor party. But gilderoy would play it into the fact that he was “straight”
So they kept it a secret, for a while atleast. That was until Peter had enough, he confessed how he actually felt about gilderoy and gilderoy never spoke to him again. James knew soemthing was wrong with Peter so that how the secret “got out” only to James of course and he never even made fun of Peter for it.
Gilderoy however, did like Peter. He was just scared that Peter was lying to him. Peter pettigrew the weird kid that was roped into the “popular crowd”, he must be secretly and arsehole waiting to put gilderoy to the entire school, or just using him for to get off.
In a letter sent to Peter after they graduated, it included the name of a perfume and an apology. Peter knew who it was from immediately, but he never accepted the apology
I found some perfumes I forgot about lol:p
me if i was a perfume
white light glitters
I’m really happy with how this one turned out. Her name is Rosa and she’s a feild medic. Her idea came from one of those theme generators.
sandalwood — think intoxicating, slightly masculine (if you want it to be), wood-y,
fresh laundry — think febreeze, freshly cleaned clothes, cleaning wipes, that kinda thing
cinammon — think cinnamon rolls, desserts, sugar, sweetness
vanilla — sweet and soft. it’s a classic and i feel it’s almost feminine because it’s in a lot of perfumes but it can be for anyone
sea salt — think sand on your feet, sea in your lungs, maybe a few seagulls cawing. a very beach-y smell
chlorine — think of pools, summer, theme parks with water slides. it’s not the most appealing smell but it certainly is a smell
strawberry — when i think of strawberries, i think of strawberry picking when i was little and kind of the taste of the strawberries themselves. as for the ice cream or perfume kinda strawberry, it’s a fun and sweet smell
chocolate — think hot chocolate, a hershey’s kiss, that hint of chocolate in your coffee creamer. it’s warm and cozy
coconut — think tropical, beachy, refreshing. when most people see coconuts they see “exotic”
banana — think banana sundae, banana smoothie, fruit-y smell, laffy taffy, that kinda thing
apple — think apple trees, apple jam, apple pie, that kinda sweet crisp smell
pine — think of a damp, dirty forest with towering trees and leaves gracing its floor. maybe a deer or two is nearby. it’s a forest smell basically
metallic — think of blood, wet copper or iron, etc.
dirt/earth — think the smell of dirt, grass, trees. the general smell of nature
rose — think romantic, date night, mysterious, alluring. roses are most commonly associated with life and affection, at least in american culture
sweat — think intense workout, maybe tangy, smoky, etc. just sweat
mint — think of waking up bright and early, toothpaste, doctor’s offices, etc. mint really speaks as fresh to me
damp, wet, wet dog — think of moist places, like a really old pool or something akin to that
dew — think early morning and mist in the air. can be associated with spring as well
musk — think of a scent similar to sweat, but the aftermath. not just pure sweat everywhere, but the scent about an hour after you work out. it smells different for everyone though
smoke — think of that scent you smell when a fireplace turns off, wood stops burning, or when you overcook something
spicy — think of ginger, paprika, spices in general. it’s a kind of fun and daring smell
toasty, warming — this can be anything warm you want: hot cocoa, warm blankets, turning the heater on, summer, fireplace flames
floral — this can be any flower you want it to be. spring is full of it, it is the embodiment of a bouquet, and is the scent you smell when you “stop to smell the flowers”
I think Regulus would smell like figs and sea salt. No explanation.
Ophelia, a beautiful, innocent girl created by Shakespeare, torn by emotions so much that in despair for her lost love, she throws herself into the arms of the river, drowning. This is clearly seen in Millais's painting. Despite her death, a young girl resists the influence of filthy water on the human body. Pale but healthy skin, rosy cheeks and pink lips desperately taking their last breath. A tragic moment captured in such a calm way. Ophelia remains forever beautiful and immortal in the eyes of the viewer.
"Perfume" by Patrick Süskind, a novel about a murderer who tries to capture the most beautiful smell. The smell of death in the form of perfume made from a young body. His victims are again little girls who die in a tragic, sometimes even parodic way, being brutally mercilessly harmed. But in the main character's eyes they still shine like stars in the sky, filling him with pure exhilaration. Especially that one woman who is his eternal inspiration.
Baudelaire creates something similar in the poem "the death of lovers". The couple on its deathbed is not concerned about the coming end. Their love seems to bloom even more, surrounded by fragrant flowers that fill their souls with peace and joy.
Finally, the story of Tristan and Isolde, another lovers, on whose grave a hawthorn grows. A symbol of their eternal love. From their dead bodies, corrupted by decay, something amazing in its beauty is created bearing witness to their everlasting connection.
It reminds me of the words of Edvard Munch: "From my rotting body, flowers shall grow and I am in them and that is eternity"
Writers, poets, whole literature itself create death in various ways. But showing it as a gateway to beauty is something particularly special. How death can it be glamorous, artistic and pleasing for our eyes. How to find it among tragedy, mourning, rotten skin and that disgusting smell of decay. And why show it this way at all?
"Because the world is so full of death and horror, I try again and again to console my heart and pick the flowers that grow in the midst of hell" - Hermann Hesse
