i have a lot of feelings for them
My god, had bad did Night fumble that ball to fuck up this slam dunk of a victory.
Don't the clans skirmish with each other or something like that, or is Starclan basically their direct government and they just hang out
There is something super interesting about the main villain government actually being very easy to overthrow, like they are easy as hell to beat up. But the problem isn't in beating them, it's in legitimacy.
Staran might be corrupt, but they have about a few centuries of good will, achievements, faith, and just plain knowing how to run a clan on their resume. DF is basically a bunch of assholes who came out of left field and know how to kill, that no one knows or likes.
Sure, you might be able to kick Starclan to the curb, but can you actually justify why you should be in charge rather than them?
Lmao yeah
I think the clans probably do have skirmishes, just not often thanks to the sheer size of their territories lol (leads to miscommunication HELL but also less contact with each other or each other’s borders that they could fight over. they don’t have gatherings like in warriors).
The DF’s ‘legitimacy’ is super interesting, since Night’s motivations behind the rebellion are inherently selfish, and arguably taking an approach of getting rid of the whole society instead of trying to fix it is Bad
The main point behind Petalclaw's little resistance group after that is basically ‘we don’t think starclan was great but you didn’t have the right to do that to us’ (+ Night’s motivation behind her involvement in the rebellion was basically ‘StarClan didn’t have the right to do that to me’. I’m sure Night will respond to this parallel very Normally).
some starclan stuff! finally touching up my green starclan concept
the second image is a timeline thing if that wasn't clear btw (BSL: before shattered loyalty) StarClan started out nice and blue but they're now green :/ wonder why
Yah, that was about night, sorry about how esoteric I decided to be, but I saw your posts about her and I just got to thinking about the... logistical problems with trying to fight a bunch of dead people, let alone the fact it's a religion.
HI. HIII. THANK YOU. I TOOK THIS AND I RAN. I warned about me spewing a really lengthy response and I did oops
(so StarClan isn't really a religious aspect of the colonies at all. in-universe this is because when Alpine was founded, it was made out of cats who either already had established religious beliefs (gods, basically, it’s not very fleshed out because it’s not important), or weren't religious at all (for example, Night). Personally, I just don't find interest in exploring religion lmao. A lot of wc oc stories have already done it, and probably done it better than I ever could.)
So, StarClan's very much a more government-ish figure for the colonies BUT YEAH obviously there’s gonna be weird stuff going on with it even if it’s not a religion, they’re dead cats in an afterlife lol.
Silverpelt refers to the afterlife here basically, and StarClan/dark forest are only one part of silverpelt. It’s only specific to the colonies. Also present everywhere in the Clans’ territories is silverstone - a green coloured mineral that is believed to give the Clans a greater connection to silverpelt, and subsequently StarClan
I love the eldritch takes on StarClan, but in my story that stuff’s more rooted in silverstone. StarClan is just a bunch of normal dudes lmao
StarClan might have power in influence, but in terms of physical, real, tangible power they can’t do much. They have no control over silverpelt, no control even over the dark forest, and the only control they have, really, is of the colonies through the codes and stuff
In terms of experience, Night's as old as the oldest StarClan cat, as established above, so she's at the very least equal in combat and strategic experience to Ashcloud, who I would say is in charge of the cat equivalent of '''''military''''' activities in StarClan (not much, they don't have a need to fight).
I can make the argument that she has more experience, considering she was the second-highest-ranking authoritative figure in Alpine's early civil war, and the clans haven't had anything close to that extent of fighting since. Their modern training probably isn't cutting it anymore.
(Like, if most of StarClan is a) made of cats who haven't ever experienced active conflict, and b) commanded by cats who think the dark forest will never be a problem, how would they really fare against a dark forest army that Night's essentially been training for war for literally over 400 years, when the barrier between them and the dark forest inevitably fails? Spoiler™: they don't fare well lol)
The key is that StarClan's arrogant. They don't think the dark forest will ever be a real problem for them, so they don't prepare for it or try to prevent it. Of course Night's going to win (initially)
Night later 'loses everything' as Silver implies, it’s not because StarClan had all the time in the world and had more experience than her. It is technically because of StarClan returning, but it's tied much closer with Rainpaw's involvement (not relevant rn) and a rooting in Night's internal struggles at this point (becoming what you hate).
a lot of Night's character after she destroys starclan (into part 3 of SL) is very much involved with like. a character caught between what's defined her existence for a long time to the point she cant remember who she was before, and the certainty that she can’t get back to that person even though she needs to, and she needs to because becoming something equal to or worse than her enemy is an unbearable thought..? if that makes sense
It's complicated, but this essentially culminates in a fall out between her and Finch. Then enter: the destructive cycle metaphors that this whole story is built on.
StarClan ‘working so great as an enemy because fighting them is something that is only ever going to hurt you more than them' is SO TRUE AND YOU WORDED IT BEAUTIFULLY.
exactly what happens with Night. After everything, they didn't really change, while she lost a lot. But it’s one of those situations where it can’t have gone any other way. She can't get what she had back until starclan's defeated, but defeating starclan renders it impossible for her to get. Either way she loses.
Your point about StarClan being eternal and therefore the colonies being eternal also is also very true and very fun.
I might even say, in this instance, that StarClan and the colonies are eternal through silverstone, and by extension so is their destruction.. :]
Sorry for word vomiting so many words in a tumblr post. I doubt anyone will read this all but. I had fun.
ok do you see it
I think it would be fucked up if I actually made my starclan cats green. I should make them green.

some things for myself for drawing StarClan and dark forest cats (or ‘wingless’ as they are known in this universe lol)
df cats only look like that outside of the df (while dead). inside they look like normal living kitties
This was a lot of fun. Sorry the backround is a bit sloppy. I need to practice on backrounds. But I hope you like it @skywarriorupham! Thanks for the request!
The General Spirit World
All animals when they die become a spirit in the afterlife. Their species, beliefs, and choices in life, will determine their outcome and afterlife residence. Next to the living in the waking world, spirits and ghosts also traverse the land, in a different realm of existence. The Spirit world is all-encompassing, thought to exist in the same reality. Some afterlives are located within the stars, others are in dark regions that only malevolent, malignant beings seeking to harm will find themselves...
StarClan
The Clans of the Lake believe that when a warrior dies after living their life as authentically as possible following the Warrior Code, their spirit will live on forever with StarClan. Their territory can be found watching the Clans from above, in the starry night that covers the lake, known as Silverpelt. All good Clan cats will find themselves as part of StarClan, regardless of their prior Clan in life. Here, the season is always Greenleaf, and it is a mixture of the lushest, most vibrant nature. Streams and ponds are filled with crystal clear water, crisp and clean in taste, stock full of fish and other prey. The grass underpaw is soft, plush, and always seems to shine golden when the light hits it just right...
The Place of No Stars
Warriors who repeatedly, intentionally, break the warrior code and bring harm to others, will find themselves in The Place of No Stars, also colloquially known as the Dark Forest, after dying. It is a large, dim, wretched place of existence, with only a ghostly pale gray light in the far, far distance serving as the only source of light. The Dark Forest is said to be once ruled and led by its first ever resident, ■■■■■■■...
Stjar'Keld
Fjell'Byr felines find themselves in Stjar'Keld after death. They reside in the skies above the mountains, so that they may watch over their living counterparts. Stjar'Keld's territory is a bit more of a mystery to Fjell'Byr, as living spirits do not visit the territory like a Clan warrior might visit StarClan's territory in their dreams. As a result, their realm is thought to be a bit more ethereal in interpretation, with emphasis on the bright midday sky. Only the residents of Stjar'Keld truly know what their territory looks like...
THE EMPTY
The Empty is a vast expanse of open, blank rolling fields and open sky in between the realms of the afterlife. The time of day is always dusk, just after sunset, with the stars in the vast distance that define the other realms of the afterlife, such as StarClan, twinkling overhead. There is no prey, water, nor shelter, but none of that is needed: hunger, thirst, and fatigue are not experienced by the spirits that wander the Empty. Wandering aimlessly somehow always leads to nowhere, no matter how far a spirit walks...
Ghosts
Ghosts are active spirits that haunt the living both in the waking world, and in a cat's dreams. They are selected by ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ to become a ghost, and it is completely indiscernable as to why, or when. It does not seem to be based on morality or prior choices in life: only Ether himself knows why he chooses the spirits he does to return to the living once more as a ghost. By rejoining the land of the living, ghosts will lose memories of their previous life. The memories, and the amount, vary, but there is no ghost that can recollect their entire past...

I try to explain a scene from Warriors without have even reed it .3. I can't believe this thing took me over 100 layers ;-;
I've wanted to do this for a long time, but just now I decided to do it. I have not read this part of the book but I have seen many videos that talk about Yellowfang's decision to let Asfur in Starclan. Personally, after thinking for a long time, I think it really makes sense in her character to take that decision. Now I have only read The prophecy, new prophecy and from time to time Power of Three (I have too much to read and I don't finish ;__; ), so I have not read Yellowfang secret, just whatched a video talking about the book (and I found so stupid that they gave powers to her character, she doesn't need them. What's up with doom every medicine cat with horrible powers?). Well, for me Yellowfang is a character that although she seems to hate everyone, deep down, I think, she feels a love and a concern for her clan as big as she could get to feel for her son Brokenstar. I find her as a character who comes to give second chances and wants to help every cat she sees in need, even when they don't deserve it (* cof cof * Brokenstar). We could say that she gave Broken so many opportunities because he was her son, but it is that sense she also got to know Ashfur since childhood. Now, if Starclan really is always watching over the clans, imagine see that little apprentice who risked being chased by dogs in the first books, to save his clan, to be imprisoned in his hatred without anyone noticing, that prompts him to make a lot of stupid decisions, which eventually lead to his death. I legitimately think that Yellowfang wanted to help him, as a kind of redemption, and that "he just love too much" was more directed at her for not knowing when a cat could no longer be helped (* cof cof * Brokenstar again).
Now, in all this, I sometimes wonder how Ashfur's mom felt, because I don't think we actually ever saw it, or how this afected her relationship with her son.
Well, tell me what you think, I hope you like it :3
name: Big'Fo0t gender: boy!!! duh!!!! sexuality: NO SECKS THATS INNAPROPRIA TE >:((( emo backjstory: as a twoleg cat hybrid, he was abandoned due to his catboy looks..and his super bbeg queen-of-all-humans mom who hated animals and treated him like one instead of a real guy (which is suuuper bad and evil like she was).
he was bullied by his sisters moms princess friend mean girl group into running away into the forest forever- soon finding thunderclan. turns out the ghost of firestar was looking for him due to a prophecy that involved him and new firestar (reincaranated) taking out the construction workers in the forest territory and then they all move back there- so he did that with his new power from all of the starclan cats whcih was very super original- walking in dreams.
he also got a cat girlboyfriend from another clan which was reincaranated spottedleaf named spottedleaf- and that made new firestar jelous. so they had a super cool battle with claws, epic fire and cool thunder-he soon killed new firestar and he died forever again so big'fo0t became b1g'st@r and married spottedleaf, they also had kits named deadkit, macchiatokit, oldkit, twolegkitkit and tigerstar3kit. the end the end this was surprisingly fun to write tbh XDD
"It was a message from StarClan," she murmured. A distant look came into her eyes. "Fire alone can save our clan."
Spottedleaf's message from StarClan - The Prophecies Begin
Tumblr attempts to sabotage me again by making the image look a little blurry 0-0 RIP Spottedleaf. I'm trying to make a super small comic strip based on Dawn of the Clans but that's hard so I procrastinated with this instead. Enjoy!!!
