Part 12 of the Elden Ring Journals of my playthrough with @ananthhirsh! Here’s my non-canon epilogue. :)
It’s now been ONE YEAR since I started these journals!!! It was such a delight to to these, thank you for following along!

Just started playing elden ring... i'm not healthy (neither is hyarent at the rate i dodge into attacks... shes a bit shaken up by now)

It's finally done. First fullbody of my tarnished OC Quinn. 🐦⬛
Designed his main outfit as well as his staff.
Rini - Child of the Dragon Cult
Born from a shaman mother and daughter to an unnamed dragon.
Carries a large claymore as her choice weapon.
Wields ice magic, particularly frozen lightning.
Adorned in dark silver and black feathers.

Rini : specializes in dragon communion.
Weapon of choice : duel frost sickles.
Preference in stealth / jumping attacks to stun foes.
(Elden Ring OC) Maylis' Fighting Style. 🌼
This is just to explain how my oc, Maylis, would fight in Elden Ring, to know what her weapon set up is like.
So, Maylis' starter would be the prisoner set up with the Golden Seed heirloom as that is important to her lore, but once in the Lands Between properly, she would use the Discus and Triple Rings of Light incantations.
Her weapons that she would use would be the Sword of St. Trina and the Golden Order Seal, at least for a while until she finds something else she likes. (I have not played the DLC yet, so I don't know about any of the new weapons/spells.)
Maylis, while rather good at combat, is rather squishy in defensive terms. So, she tends to summon a variety of her Spirits to help her out during battle, she usually relying on her Crystalian to help distract a difficult foe and to absorb hits better than she could herself.
I have not really thought about her armor yet, but I'll get to it eventually.

I might not have made an in-game model for her, but I did make a design for her in Picrew. So, I finally have something to properly show how she looks.

Maylis, dubbed 'the Flower Mother' by those she knew before. The title just seemed to stick...
A lowly Tarnished guided by grace, returned to the Lands Between to fix what she had ruined and lost long ago...
Maylis, a young maiden who frolics through the petals of flowers and the fallen leaves of a minor Erdtree.
Merely the echoes of a time before she was taken away from her home. The echoes of a life once lived...

Some More Things About My Elden Ring Oc, Maylis. 🌼
I just know she likes Rennala. She comes over to the academy to visit on Wednesdays for teatime and just talk for hours. This also made the Ranni situation rather weird as well because she's friends with Ranni's mom and literally sees her as a child.
Ranni: "Tarnished, I wish for you to be my consort and help me bring in a new age–"
Maylis: "Oh, you're so funny, dear. Your mother said 'hi,' by the way."
She also gets along great with Miriel, also visiting him every once in a while to chat about things and gives him all her scrolls whenever she finds them on her journeys.
One thing I also am sticking with is that she just doesn't care that the demigods are literal demigods. They're just large children to her and she will always treat them as such.
Dropping in at the Haligtree every once in a while with a wrapped up bundle of home-made Preserving Boluses for Malenia.
Stopping by the Erdtree to drop off a little box of sandwiches for Morgott and literally cried when she found out he and Mohg were thrown into the sewers as children, much to his confusion.
None of them even know why she keeps doing this, they just know that every once in a while a strange Tarnished woman will drop by to quote-on-quote, "Take care of her tall children."
Morgott: "Foul Tarnished, prepare to– Oh, it's you again..."
Maylis: "Hey there, dearie! I've got some little toasties and a juice box here for you."
Morgott: "How many times must I tell you that you are not my mother? Begone!"
She's just the literal personification of, "Cute? This is a serious threat to our mission!" "It's just a baby... Hi, baby! :D" Sometimes I love my imagination.
Tarnished Elden Ring Oc That I Have Not Made Ingame Yet. 🌼
I've been making an Elden Ring Oc in my head recently going by the name Maylis, the Flower Mother. (Pronounced: May-lees. The name meaning: The mother of lilies.)
Long, blonde braided hair style and fair skinned. Orange-gold eyes. I'm thinking she'd wear the Deathbed dress too. Not sure about her weapons and stuff yet though.

And her just entire running gag is that she finds the most hideous and ugly creatures in the Lands Between positively adorable and adopts the little baby versions of them immediately.
Found a stray rot puppy from Caelid? Adopted.
Tiny, vicious Misbegotten? Adopted.
Found a nest and an egg from one of those giant scary bird things? Adopted.
Little living jar she found waddling around? Adopted.
A random baby omen she found in the sewers? Adopted.
Boc the demihuman seamster who lost his mother and is insecure about his looks? Adoption papers, signed and sealed. Now call him beautiful and comfort the poor boy.
She's adopted all of her spirit summons by now as well and treats them all like her little children, giving them little gold stars for a good job and giving them plenty of praise and care after a hard won battle.
She doesn't fight if she doesn't have to and just wants to be peaceful about things, but that can't be avoided at times. But that still doesn't stop her from trying to have conversation with her enemies while she's fighting, trying to talk them down like a mother talking to their toddler that's having a temper tantrum.
Maylis: "Come on, sweetie... Why don't you calm down and have some of these apple slices I cut for you, hm?"
The who-knows-how-old crucible knight that's literally trying to murder her: "Ma'am, excuse me–"
She doesn't even care that all her "children" are technically all monstrosities. She just loves her little babies with all her heart and will not accept any harm coming to them.
I already love her and I will be expanding her character more in the future.
Elden Ring/Dark Souls and the Sheer Lack of Fanfics. (A Slight Rant and Ramble.)

We were joking that with the sunflower boss fromsoft has really connected with their core audience - people who miss beating grass with a stick as a kid. And it got me thinking - is it even a universal childhood experience? Do americans have fond memories about fighting local flora?
Extra points if it's dangerous flora, like nettle, then it can fight back and the fight has more stakes
Sellen talking about her plan to overthrow the carian royale family is so much funnier if you’re doing an age of stars playthrough. Like Sellen, do you not see what's strapped to my back? This massive sword of ice and magic? The wedding gift I got from one of the Carian royals?!
Last time we spoke you knew I was already Serving Ranni the witch right? That alone would be reason enough not to tell me of all people that you’re planning to overthrow her mother! What did you think was going to happen?! FFS Sellen I am wearing the dark moon greatsword!
I think people who see the tarnished in elden ring as just murder hobo assholes who kill everything in their path for no other reason than wanting to are kind of missing the point of them.
First off, they’re not just some random asshole that strolled into the lands between looking for a fight. Our character was resurrected, torn from their home and thrown into this unrelenting hellscape against their will. They are just as much victims of circumstance as everyone else in this game.
Also there’s the whole aspect that we’re supposed to project a personality onto the tarnished ourselves. They’re not literally mute, determined, personalityless killers. If someone comes out of elden ring thinking the tarnished is just mindlessly killing everything in their path for no reason then I think that’s more of a problem with the player themselves.
That being said, if someone doesn’t care to do that sort of character building or likes the idea of that being their tarnished’s personality then that’s perfectly fine, I’m not here to judge how you play the game. I’m just not a fan of people who call the tarnished in general a horrible person for doing what they do.
I know this is basically a pointless argument but the fact that people generalise the tarnished as one character instead of what they actually are (a blank slate that can be any type of character) kinda annoys me. Your tarnished and mine are not going to be the same type of person.
